What You'll Be Doing

As a member of our Internal Accounting Team, the controller is integral to the daily operations and administration of our firm, ensuring that our accounting processes are efficient and effective. This position supports the CFO/COO and partner group. This is a full-time, exempt position. See list of responsibilities below.

• Maximize sound financial controls by improving financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems
• Guide financial decisions by improving, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
• Protect assets by improving, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
• Maximize return and limit risk on cash by minimizing bank balances and making investments
• Prepare budgets by i) establishing a timeline, ii) collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data, and iii) recommending plans
• Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
• Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
• Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
• Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions
• Maintain equipment inventory
• Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results
• Recruit, select, onboard, and train team members
• Coach, mentor, and provide performance feedback to accounting staff
• Serve as a back-up to accounting staff when necessary
• Keep financial information and plans confidential
• Oversee accounting team processes (payroll, accounts payable, billing, etc.)
• Supervise accounting team members in India

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Certified Public Accountant
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a controller
• Experience improving processes and implementing best practices
• Experience establishing and maintaining strong internal controls
• Experience with financial reporting requirements
• Experience with Sage Intacct preferred
• Experience with Power BI preferred
• Highly motivated team player
• Ability to demonstrate friendly, professional demeanor to all associates, partners, and clients
• Superior organization and project management skills with proven ability to be detail-oriented, prioritize appropriately, and meet deadlines
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and with others to support the firm’s mission and accomplish the firm’s goals
• Ability to provide a high level of customer service
• Ability to adapt to change in the work environment, including managing competing demands and dealing with interruptions and unexpected events
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
