Registered Nurse (RN) - Post Op

The Multi-Service Ward (Post Op) Registered Nurse (RN)operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including Federal Holidays. Daytime shift is usually scheduled from 0645 1915 and night shift from 1845 0715. Shifts will typically be 12.5 hours in length to include an uncompensated 30 minute meal break.

Position Duties:

• Position involves taking care of post op patients such as appendectomies, hysterectomies, cholecystectomies, ortho injuries, rhabdomyolysis, dehydration, blood transfusions, patients needing IV antibiotics and observations, GI patients such as small bowel obstructions that require NG tubed for decompression and bowel rest, and Covid patients that are stable enough to not need to be intubated but require oxygen and IV antibiotics. COVID patients.
• Also taking care of postpartum patients and newborns when Labor & delivery nurses are overwhelmed with multiple labors and triage.
• Educate patients that are ready for discharge, perform outpatient procedures such as giving Iron infusions and postpartum newborn care with weight checks and transcutaneous bilirubin checks and blood draws.
• Respond to emergencies and help with code blues, code purples, and code stroke.
• Train and help corpsman with nursing assessment and IV skills as well as phlebotomy.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited registered nurse program.
• Possess and maintain a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in any one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
• Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience within the last 3 years.
