THE MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL is Hiring an Open Rank Faculty Position in Audiology (IHP Faculty) Near Mission, MA

Job Summary:

The MGH Institute of Health Professions invites applications for an open-rank faculty position in the Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program within the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD). In addition to fulfilling the teaching, scholarship, and service responsibilities in the department, the successful applicant will contribute to the ongoing development of our AuD program scheduled to launch in summer 2023. This is a 12-month appointment beginning August 15, 2023.

Commensurate with rank, applicants for this position will demonstrate a successful track record, or potential for excellence, in teaching at the graduate level. Establishing, or continuing, a successful area of scholarship that enhances the programmatic research within the audiology program and the institute is also highly valued. Additionally, the MGH Institute of Health Professions supports its academic community through a strong commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. About Us:

The AuD program joins an interprofessional team of highly ranked programs in the CSD department and the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. These include master's and clinical doctoral programs in Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Genetic Counseling, as well as the research program in Rehabilitation Sciences (PhD). Located in the historic Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston, the MGH Institute is an autonomous graduate school affiliated with Mass General Brigham, which includes the Massachusetts General Hospital, Mass Eye and Ear, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, as well as a physician's network, community health centers, and other health care entities.

The AuD program will work in partnership with Mass Eye and Ear institute and is supported by local clinical partners at Boston Children's Hospital and the Boston VA. These affiliations offer unparalleled opportunities for faculty and students to learn and work alongside expert practitioners in a variety of hospital, clinical, and community settings. Additionally, MGH Institute of Health Professions is committed to anti-racism and bringing together all members of the IHP community to address systemic racial injustice as well as oppression more broadly. Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in hearing related field or AuD/PhD from an accredited institution

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Graduate-level teaching experience
  • Record of student mentorship and/or clinical supervision
  • Evidence of service in higher education or the audiology profession
  • Potential for inter- and intra-departmental research collaboration
  • ASHA certification as an audiologist (CCC-A)

Note: Faculty rank is contingent upon recommendation of the Academic Unit Leader, the Dean and will be reviewed by the Faculty Senate Appointment Committee for recommendation of appropriate rank to the Provost. The recommendation will be sent to the President and Board of Trustees for final approval. Specific faculty rank cannot be guaranteed prior to this review and approval process.
