Job Summary:

MDC Studio is a technology startup studio supporting inventors who are bringing their innovations from conception to the marketplace. We are seeking skilled Principal Engineers to collaborate with inventors in the development of high-impact, high-technology medical devices, software and other advanced engineering products. Qualified candidates will work in an environment that values and rewards creativity, productivity, and collegiality.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, direct, and coordinate multidisciplinary medical device development projects
• Organize and maintain technical development timelines
• Draft, revise, and submit grant applications to public and private agencies
• Consult with physicians and other potential users to establish system requirements
• Lead design, fabrication, testing of prototype systems
• Work with manufacturers and researchers to optimize subsystem components
• Write and present clear, succinct technical and non-technical reports
• Assess market-dependent product requirements and contribute to commercialization activities

Qualifications:

Required

• B.S., M.S., or PhD in a relevant, accredited scientific or engineering field
• Experience in project management
• Experience with writing successful grant proposals
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Deadline and detail-oriented
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability and enthusiasm to work and lead in a fast-paced, collaborative, small-team environment

Preferred

• M.S. or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical, or Software Engineering
• Experience starting or working in a technology driven start-up
• Medical device design experience
• Experience in product development from conception to release
• ISO, FDA or other regulated industry training and experience
