What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part – time Emergency Medical Technician position at Marydel Fire Company?
Nature of Position
- Employee will be responsible for staffing the ambulance and providing medical care in an emergency setting.
- Employee must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and be able to make sound medical decision while working under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Provide Basic Life Support and transport of the sick and injured
- Must provide all patient care within scope of practice set forth by Delaware State BLS Protocols & Maryland Protocols
- Must have or be willing to obtain a Maryland EMT.
- Complete DEMRS reports or incident reports prior to the end of shift
- Routine checks of ambulance equipment and vehicles
- Perform station housing keeping duties
- Must be able to work well with the public, staff and our supporting agencies
- Other responsibilities may be added on a case by case basis
Mandatory Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Must be 21 years of age to be covered by our Vehicle Liability Insurance
- Valid Driver’s License with NO DUI and no more than 4 points at time of application
- Must provide a certified copy of driving record going back at least 6 months after job offer
- Must be willing to provide a current background check after job offer
- Must complete pre-employment drug screen
- Valid EMT card from National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
- Valid Delaware EMT certification card from the Delaware State Fire School
- Valid Emergency Vehicle Operators License
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- 1 year of active 911 experience

- Albuterol certified
- NARCAN certified
- CPAP certified
- Epi-Pen
