Job Title: Patient Access Specialist Cost Center: 101571274 Registration-RL Reg Scheduled Weekly Hours: 20 Employee Type: Regular Work Shift: Variable (United States of America) Job Description: JOB SUMMARY The Patient Access Specialist serves as an initial contact for patients and customers, in-person and via telephone, and assists them in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System customer service standards. This individual is to complete financial clearance activities prior to patient arrival to any Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) facility to expedite and enhance the patient experience. The Patient Access Specialist activities include appointment scheduling, referral completion, authorization for visit, pre-registration, and registration. This individual will provide exceptional customer service to meet the needs of customers both internally to MCHS and externally to patients and other healthcare providers. WORK SHIFT Variable shifts between 2:30 pm - 9:30 pm to include and weekend & holiday rotation. JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred/Optional: Successful completion of a vocational technical health unit coordinator, medical office specialist, medical secretary program or related field. Successful completion of a medical terminology course. EXPERIENCE Minimum Required: Demonstrated proficiency utilizing a computer, telephone to include written and verbal communication skills. Preferred/Optional: Knowledge of medical insurance and one year experience in a healthcare facility including direct patient contact and customer service. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
