MarketWise Solutions is Hiring a Human Resources Business Partner Near Baltimore, MD

Overview

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will provide expert level support to various functions of the Human Resources Department and MarketWise affiliate companies. The HRBP will be very visible throughout the businesses focusing on employee relations, on-boarding, exit processing, among other HR areas of focus. High attention to detail, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and working collaboratively will be important qualities for the person in the role to succeed. The overall mission will be to ensure the flawless execution of all human resources initiatives within the Company.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance for HR inquires and issues thereby helping to create an outstanding work environment for people to enjoy and thrive
  • Provide end-to-end employee and manager support on a variety of matters ranging in complexity.
  • Act as liaison on employee inquiries regarding all facets of human resources.
  • Respond to employee emergencies by providing help and guidance.
  • Listen effectively. Establish and maintain a position of a trusted resource to employees and managers
  • Respond to manager needs by evaluating employee matters. Determine and execute an appropriate and thoughtful course of action. Mediate as necessary. Evaluate risk and work compliantly
  • Proactively reach out to managers to assess employee relations and provide support as needed.
  • Promote positive employee management practices and work with managers to develop effective managerial skills
  • Develop and facilitate HR training for employees and managers
  • Evaluate and coordinate external training for employees on various topics.
  • Conduct and ultimately work with others on the team to automate our robust on-boarding process for new hires including completing I-9s, coordinating orientation, and updating employee files.
  • Compose and issue communications to employees that are written in a clear and understandable way. Prepare comprehensive file memos to document employee activities as appropriate. Memorialize employee changes such as promotions, hires, title changes, salary changes etc.
  • Conduct exit interviews and prepare comprehensive exit summary memos
  • Skillfully and compliantly conduct employee terminations as required.
  • Participate in FMLA administration and the visa application processes as back up to the HRBPs who manage such processes.
  • Work in a cohesive and collaborative way with other HRBPs in the department, as a team within a team, to brainstorm ideas, challenges, and solutions for the good of the business, employees and managers, as needed.
  • Compose job descriptions as necessary.
  • Support the annual employee review process, become an expert in Lattice.
  • Participate in annual benefits open enrollment as necessary.
  • Craft communications that are consistent with brand and corporate culture.
  • Participate in calls with vendors for HR Systems and software.
  • Maintain and audit employee files as required.
  • Follow all processes and procedures of the HR Department and the Company.
  • Complete employment verifications for employees as necessary.
  • Complete ad hoc projects as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred.
  • 3 years professional experience in an HR department with specific experience as an HRBP is desired.
  • Experience using UltiPro is highly desired or a similar HRIS system.
  • Solid foundation of employment, labor, wage and hour
  • Ability to solve problems by gathering facts and applying general procedures.
  • Ability to exhibit discretion and judgment with regards to personnel issues.
  • Experience handling employee terminations and conducting exit interviews.
  • Experience facilitating new employee on-boarding
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and easily adapt to changing conditions.
  • Ability to work well in high pressure situations to meet deadlines.
  • Results oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage numerous simultaneous priorities.
  • High energy, high ownership of work product and dedication and commitment to accuracy.
  • High degree of proficiency with MS Office.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP a plus.
  • Capable of sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
  • Visual acuity for reading and using the computer
  • Ability to hear
  • Ability to freely move about the office
  • Ability to use the phone/computer/keyboard/mouse/general office equipment for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate with others in order to exchange information
  • Fluency in the English language
