Job Type Unclassified - Judicial Department About the Position ABOUT THE POSITION: The Courtroom Technology Specialist utilizes subject matter expertise and courtroom technology knowledge to provide user support to judicial officers, court staff, and courtroom participants for various courtroom technology devices in support of courtroom operations in a physical and hybrid setting. They resolve moderate to complex personal computer hardware or software issues and assist judicial staff and attorneys in the use of courtroom technology in connecting to and resolving issues using presentation technology during court proceedings. The Courtroom Technology Specialist evaluates problems, determines resolutions, and implements support when necessary. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS We recognize your time is valuable, so please apply if you meet the following required qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or GED Experience: Three (3) years of technology-related work experience which may include computer/network maintenance, desktop support, applications support, or other related user support in a large Microsoft environment. OR Combined education and experience qualifications: Other combinations of education and work-related experience may substitute for the minimum requirements on a year-for-year basis. Other Requirements: Must possess or have the ability to obtain by time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license. Our Preferred Candidate has: Training and certification in Microsoft Windows 7/8.1/10 environment. Training and certification in Office 365 applications. Knowledge of A/V hardware and software installation and configuration, A/V technologies that include audio recording and video streaming products. Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of: Video conferencing software such as Microsoft Teams, GoToMeeting, Zoom, or Webex Microsoft-based networks including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Office 365 applications and online applications. Web-based applications for staff management. Skill in: Providing exceptional customer service. Explaining technical ideas and solutions to an audience with varying technological knowledge. Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Verbally communicating with others to convey information effectively. Configuring, troubleshooting, and fixing moderate to complex technical problems. Identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Working independently, while effectively managing time, within a large and dynamic technical environment Ability to: Become skilled in the Court Connect virtual justice program Provide highly responsible administrative and technical work performed independently with minimal supervision To work effectively with judges, court staff, courtroom participants, and the public Be adaptable, and work in a fast-paced, team environment with a positive, winning attitude. Exemplify strong ethics. Provide coverage to any departmental supported facility within Maricopa County. Work closely with others in a demanding environment that requires quick actions without becoming overly/obviously stressed. Be flexible to address high-priority issues or VIP customers over other tasks assigned. Address a wide range of tasks as directed including tasks that might fall out of the essential functions range for this position. ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS (This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.) Acts as a specialized technician among a team of IT support staff whose main duty is to respond to employee, management, and judicial officer requests for technical assistance by fixing problems with PC/Server software, hardware, and applications related to in-person, or hybrid hearings, utilizing the Court Connect system. Provides expertise in the use of all courtroom technology including bench touch panel, room controls, camera(s), microphones, digital evidence connections, assisted listening audio devices, bench conference headsets, and other courtroom technology tools. Coordinates regional site technical services with Court Administration leadership and supports site users. Troubleshoots and coordinates resolution of Court Connect system problems and provides end-users with technical solutions to ensure that court objectives are met. Provides judicial staff training in the use of courtroom technology and equipment, including assistance with onboarding, and responds to courtroom support issues to ensure hearing schedules are not adversely impacted. Performs a daily process for certifying that all courtroom and jury deliberation room technology is functioning properly and reports any deficiencies per escalation procedures. Documents all user contact and problem resolutions. Assists with coordination of access to courtrooms to support vendor service delivery and/or installations. Works cooperatively to complete work, share workloads and determine priorities as a team. Evaluates current workflows for efficiency and communicates with Court Technology Services operations to ensure technical needs are being met. May be requested to manage “virtual” participants under judicial supervision. Travel to court locations to review and provide guidance for in-person or hybrid hearings as needed. Working conditions: This position requires occasional work during off-hours, weekends, and on-call. Must be able to lift: 15 pounds floor to waist, 10 pounds waist to shoulder, and 5 pounds shoulder to overhead. Must be able to carry up to 15 pounds and push/pull a distance of 200 feet up to 50 pounds. The working environment will consist of both indoor and outdoor activity; including sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and driving. The employee is regularly required to speak clearly and hear; see details of objects that are less than a few feet away; use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
