We’re hiring for a State & Local Tax (SALT) Experienced Associate for our New York City office. As a SALT Experienced Associate, you will be responsible for completing engagements in various areas of state and local taxation, including, but not limited to, multistate income/franchise tax, sales/use tax, and unclaimed property. Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following: Perform tax research and provide technical advice on state & local tax issues Assist multi-state companies with state & local tax compliance Investigate and respond to tax agency notices, including those involving unreported income, delinquency penalties, unfiled forms and returns, enforced collection (liens, levies, warrants, garnishments) Prepare, organize and maintain engagement work papers and files Manage multiple client assignments at any given time Build strong team relationship skills and work as an effective team member to complete project components and assignment tasks Configure reports and information on client statuses to ensure completion Communicate with Senior and/or Manager on work status and client issues that arise Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with a preferred field of study in Accounting Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Ability to work independently, but also work well with others Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a GPA of 3.0 and above Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation CPA license or on track to obtain 1 years’ experience in a related role within public accounting Software Experience – CCH ProSystem, Microsoft Office 365 Marcum LLP is an Equal Opportunity Employer Marcum LLP does not discriminate on the basis of race, ancestry, national origin, color, religion, gender, gender identity, age, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, or any other protected classification under the law.
