Alphazyme, a Maravai LifeSciences company, is looking for a Business Development Manager for the Bay Area. The Business Development Manager is a field-based position responsible for overall revenue growth and development. This person will manage existing industrial business in the territory, grow the business through expansion of existing customers and recruitment of new customers, and present to Senior Management a regional forecast/funnel and annual resource requirement when requested.
Description of Duties:
- Develop and implement territorial business strategy including, but not limited to accurate customer revenue forecasts, clear strategies for selling the complete Alphazyme value proposition, including:
- OEM/custom enzymes in bulk
- Speed to prototype and ability to scale production
- Customization of enzyme formulation
- Fully traceable manufacturing with the highest quality standards (ISO 13485)
- 80% of time in front of customers (in-person, via teleconference, or email follow-up) to ensure:
- Maintenance of Alphazyme’s existing customer base on the (territory location) and achievement of quarterly and annual revenue targets
- Identification and closure of new opportunities within existing and new customers in the region to drive organic growth in line with targets and diversify customer base.
- Maintain accurate records in Salesforce.com CRM database:
- Opportunity Funnel/Forecast
- Customer communications & Contacts
- Manage multiple business initiatives
- Work closely with Customer Support Coordinator and Product Manager to communicate with customers relative to on-going enzyme project
- Provide feedback on US market requirements and competition to the organization
- Attend conferences and exhibitions as attendee
- Attend Alphazyme meetings and trainings as required
- Through example, promote Alphazyme corporate values and ethos in the region
- Perform other functions and duties as required
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from 4-year college or university
- Minimum 5 years’ commercial experience within the scientific tools industry
- Experience closing complex negotiations
- Proven experience in promoting both reagents and services within the B2B and B2C environments
- Deep understanding of scientific products marketplace/industry
- Deep knowledge and insight into the present and future of the commercial genomic sciences industry
- Strong Experience building key partnerships & alliances.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial DNA sequencing, PCR technologies, and mRNA manufacturing
- High attention to detail
- Strong Molecular Biology Applications background
- Positive external and internal relationship management skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Proven Ability to thrive in a start-up/fast paced/change oriented environment.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $117,000 - $150,000. In addition, highly competitive long-term incentives in the form of company equity, bonus participation and company sponsored benefits are provided as part of the total compensation package. The salary offer will depend on multiple factors which may include the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications, as well as the location of the role.
