ABOUT THE ROLE

Mansueto Ventures is the parent of Inc. and Fast Company, and is looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. This role will have a huge impact with our Inc.com and FastCompany.com brands by focusing on scalable infrastructure, automation, security, dev tooling, observability and SRE best practices. You will play a key role in maturing our infrastructure and provide critical input into our roadmaps.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Work with our application developers to build and maintain highly reliable and distributed infrastructure to support our applications
• Propose solutions based on engineering requirements, reducing friction, and consolidating existing solutions, in an AWS environment
• Work within multiple areas of cloud-native infrastructure (immutable cloud provisioning, containerization, deployment pipelines, CDN, 12-factor apps, scalability), with a bias towards SRE best practices
• Identify security problems and improve the security aspects of our services
• Improve the reliability of our systems, by focusing on metrics, observability, monitoring and alerting to provide actionable insights and reliable tooling.
• Mentor and grow peers in new technologies and approaches
• Participate in standups, sprint planning and retrospectives at the team level and higher
• Work with the Engineering management team and peers to own and execute the planned roadmap

Qualifications

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• At least 5 years of experience in building high quality and secure cloud infrastructure, as well as programming and troubleshooting production applications
• In-depth understanding of cloud-based offerings, specifically managing AWS services such as S3, ECS, EC2, ALB, RDS, Lambda, DynamoDB, Route53, etc.
• A good grasp of multi-tier application architecture, distributed systems and concepts of networking, load balancing, security, monitoring and *nix OS
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices, specifically using Terraform
• Some experience with CDNs / Fastly, edge caching optimizations and DNS configuration
• Well versed in Linux systems, internals, CLI, shell scripting, etc.
• Experience with CI/CD, GitHub actions a plus
• Supported applications include some combo of Node.js, React, PHP/WP, NGINX, etc., so experience working with these is huge plus
• Have a growth mindset and a bias towards action
