Summary
The Logistics Specialist for is responsible for handling the foundational level operations and day to day processes for Malark accounts while growing the business. The primary job function is to procure cost effective transportation that meets our customers service needs. Fulfilling our customers transportation needs with a high degree of service quality, mitigate risk for our customers and our company and be compliant with all regulations (Federal, Local, DOT, FMCSA). This roles handles orders, provides solutions and communicates the status of their deliveries. Logistics Specialist will work directly with their respective Sales Executives to make sure their assigned customers receive the utmost customer service levels and a smooth start-to-finish experience with Malark. The Logistics Specialist is responsible for ensuring all daily tasks are completed in accordance with department policy and procedure guidelines and any additional customer-specific standard operating procedures.
Primary Job Responsibilities
• Taking orders from customers, providing solutions and communicating the status of their deliveries
• Call multiple carriers in the market place to negotiate price and capacity, carrier pay, risk mitigation and compliance
• Following up to ensure deliveries are going according to the plan
• Expediting as necessary (including a few weekend calls) to ensure customers are taken care of
• Taking orders to quote, finding and qualifying local carriers and ensuring delivery schedules are met
• Compiling data for reporting to continually monitor performance and look for better ways to improve
• Ensuring our carriers meet our contract and safety (DOT/FMCSA) requirements
• Holding carriers accountable for service and billing accuracy
• Documenting each transaction in our system accurately so we can effectively bill (invoice) our customers
• Problem resolution (claims, delays, mechanical issues/break downs)
• Ensuring all of our loads are legal, compliant and permitted appropriately as needed (over size, overweight, Hazardous Materials, etc.)
• Determining the best way to ship, negotiating rates and providing all the necessary documentation
• Contacting new or existing customers to seek out new opportunities to drive revenue, sell new services and continually expand the customer relationships
• Troubleshoot and escalate issues as they arise.
• Ensure carrier compliance.
• Source carriers & negotiate pricing as needed
• Ensure customer standard operating procedures are being followed during the booking and dispatching process.
• Communicate operational issues to team members and managers as required
• Identify available carrier capacity and communicate results to team members
• Assists with required operational and administrative load management requirements, including but not limited to: order management, pickup/delivery management, problem resolution and “system housekeeping” on an as needed basis
• Maintains and communicated customer(s) of shipping date, anticipated delays, and any additional information needed by the customer and through completion of delivery.
• Electronically collects and maintains paperwork such as invoices, open orders, in-transit documents archived documents and delivered orders.

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• 3 Years of experience in 3PL and Freight Logistics
