Mainstay Technologies seeks the Engineering professional who is passionate about helping people, has a broad technical foundation, enjoys new technologies, has project experience, and possesses great troubleshooting skills. You’re committed to providing efficient and reliable support to clients, the team, and the company. You’ll provide advanced technical services in new projects and ongoing infrastructure support for our clients and team.

You are an essential role within the operations of Mainstay. You’ll work with our clients and internal teams to support on-premises or cloud servers, handle server outage/emergencies and other infrastructure related engineering specialties.

What you will be doing: 

  • Designing and implementing on-premises and cloud infrastructure across diverse client environments 

  • Designing secure server/cloud solutions for client environments using existing standards 

  • Migrating on-premises workloads/data to Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and SharePoint 

  • Managing individual/assigned projects from start to finish, outlining the project to determine required labor and hardware, and monitoring gauges for project ticket 

  • Creating and maintaining accurate client documentation throughout the infrastructure design and support process including network diagrams, client equipment inventory, configurations in ConnectWise Manage, and photos from client sites. 

  • Researching server/ cloud solutions, choosing the best solution for each client, sharing knowledge of newly implemented technologies with the team 

  • Serving as a point of escalation to support, troubleshoot, and resolve advanced technical issues directly from the client or escalated internally, monitoring gauges for unresolved or unaddressed service requests 

  • Working with the team to assist with research and design (R&D) initiatives created by the Director of Engineering 

  • Maintaining accurate time entries and effective time management to ensure productivity in a fast-paced work environment 

  • Responsible for completing standard infrastructure design, assisting in R&D initiatives, and the initial support of escalated requests while maintaining accurate documentation and client billing

  • Ability to collaborate, listen to others, seek differing opinions, and have open decision making 

Qualifications and skills expected: 

  • 3 years of engineering experience building, implementing, and supporting server infrastructure, cloud and on-premises.

  • Depth of skills and experience in server administration such as: 

  • Modern Windows Server operating systems and underlying services such as: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, NPS, RADIUS.

  • Microsoft Azure Infrastructure-as-a-Service: Setup of Servers, Networks, Storage, and VPN connectivity to on-premises equipment. Migrating workloads to Azure.

  • Office 365/Exchange Online administration.

  • Backup technologies: VEEAM, Datto, Network Attached Storage, Azure Backup.

  • Virtualization: VMWare and HyperV hosts, high-availability clusters.

  • Shared storage concepts and functional working skills with various shared storage technologies (provisioning LUNs, expanding volumes, configuring RAID, etc.) on Dell/EMC, Lenovo, or equivalent SAN. 

  • Current certification in Microsoft Server/Azure, VMWare, or other infrastructure related certificate preferred 

  • Formal Education (Associates or Bachelors) in Computer Science preferred but not required 

  • Basic understanding of Networking technologies: Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Fortinet, or equivalent knowledge preferred 

  • Developing and maintaining business continuity and disaster recovery processes experience preferred

Location 

We believe in Work-from-Anywhere AND in the value of in-person relationships. We provide nearly unlimited flexibility to work remotely, but we do hold team meetings and all-staffs in person. We also maintain a beautiful office in Manchester, NH and a satellite office in Laconia, and we encourage each team member to choose their own balance of home and in-office work, that maximizes wellbeing. We do encourage all teammates to come in weekly, but it is not required. Applicants must live within driving distance to support clients, onboarding, and ongoing team integration.
