The Firm

We are a local CPA firm in beautiful Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, providing premier individual and small business financial consulting, management, and planning services to small to medium-sized businesses and their owners. In 2023, Magnuson, McHugh & Company merged with another local long-standing firm, Dougherty & Associates, CPAs, forming Magnuson, McHugh, Dougherty CPAs (MMD). MMD has a combined collective century of expertise and experience to offer a wider ranger of services to our clients. We have an elite team that includes 12 licensed CPAs and 24 support staff. While we are well known for our Tax Services, additional services we provide include, Audit and Assurance, Estate Tax Planning, 401(k) Administration, Client Accounting Advisory Services, Payroll and Wealth Management all in one office.

Job Expectations

  • Assisting with audit engagements for a variety of clients including government entities and non-profit organizations.
  • Work with audit team to ensure completion of assurance engagements, including reviewing client accounting and operating procedures, performing internal control test work, conducting tests sufficient in scope to support an opinion, and preparing financial statement reports.
  • Attend continuing professional education and training seminars on a regular basis.
  • Abide by the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or working towards obtaining license.
  • 1-2 years of recent public accounting audit experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of internal accounting controls and professional standards and regulations (GAAP & GAAS).
  • Strong communication, organization, project management, problem solving, critical thinking, research, and client service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
