About the Role

The Project Cost Controller will collaborate with team leaders to develop a comprehensive budget baseline that supports our scheduled commitments for magniX's NASA program. You will be responsible for the project budgets, calculating budgeted and actual rates, analyzing, investigating variances, and managing change control.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create detailed baseline budgets to support multiple projects.
  • Track actual spending against budgets to provide real-time status.
  • Develop and implement procedures to support cost control.
  • Collaborate with team leaders to develop and manage a cost change control process.
  • Calculate actual direct labor and overhead rates, investigate variances to budget, and build forecast rates.
  • Establish metrics for periodic reviews, prepare reports, perform analysis, and lead review discussions.
  • Provide variance reporting and analysis to ensure any deviation from the project plan is highlighted, analyzed, and reported as directed.
  • Monitoring person-hours and cost progress.
  • Working with supply chain and Project Management teams to ensure proper allocation of all POs and invoices.
  • Create ad-hoc reports as needed and dashboards for a high-level executive summary.
  • Support the business with analysis for new projects and proposed changes of scope to existing projects.
  • Support audits as needed and business to improve internal controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent discipline 
  • 5 years of relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with government program cost management preferred 
  • Strong familiarity with Critical Path Methods (CPM)
  • Strong familiarity with Earn value Management and DCMA 14-point assessment.
  • Robust analytical skillset and great attention to detail.
  • Self-starter and open to continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong background with MS Office applications: Excel (lookups, pivot tables), PowerPoint -create presentations, Projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP Business One and SQL queries.
  • Experience with government contracts.
  • Experience with SPI and CPI reporting.
