Job Description

Magic Leap, Inc. is seeking a Facilities Technician, Second Shift to support our Manufacturing facility in Plantation, Florida. We are seeking a facilities technician that can perform a variety of tasks including basic troubleshooting on HVAC, electrical, wastewater/plumbing, and mechanical equipment. Perform general maintenance on chillers, exhaust fans, air compressors, vacuum pumps, wastewater neutralization system, and high purity water systems. Have the ability to use the facility control/monitoring system to ensure the facility and cleanroom environments are meeting specifications.

You will need to go into one of our offices daily in Plantation, Florida and work during our second shift, 3:00pm to 11pm Monday-Friday, with potential weekends and overtime shifts, as well as 24/7 emergency on call rotation. This position requires continuous physical effort; intermittent and long-term work cycles; standing, walking, sitting, repetitive motion, and lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted. Employee may be required to work at a computer terminal for long periods of time. Employee will be able to hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone. Position requires effective communication skills, verbal and written form. Mental alertness is a must. Employee is required to demonstrate knowledge of hazardous communication regulations and requirements. Employee may be exposed to atmospheric conditions, such as: dust, fumes, noise and varying temperatures (to within OSHA standards). Must be able to work in a cleanroom environment, which includes wearing PPE.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs basic troubleshooting on HVAC, wastewater, DI system, fire and security system, air compressors, etc.
  • Monitor all preventative maintenance work and schedules to complete assigned work
  • Work with specialized outside vendors to repair and maintain cleanroom and facility systems
  • Prepare and maintain logs, monthly reports, inventory reports, purchase orders, etc.
  • Hazardous waste disposal
  • Compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations including EPA and OSHA regulations and building codes
  • Perform general facility repairs, maintenance, and work order requests
  • Work with Emergency Response Team and other various safety responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience facilities/manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, water system and hydraulics
  • Ability to use hand and power tools including forklift operation, lifts, etc
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematic drawings, and electronic symbols
  • Experience with customer service
  • Experience with cleanroom environments 
  • Experience with hazardous waste disposal and maintaining paper and electronic logs
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and e-mail)
  • Experience using a facility monitoring/control system
  • Emergency Response Team experience preferred

 Education:

  • High School or GED. Trade School or Associates degree preferred
