Position Summary

This position is for a structural engineer to assist in the design, development, and documentation of structural modifications for fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Applicant will work with senior structural engineers and Engineering Manager to understand requirements and translate those requirements into system level installation drawings, assembly, and part drawings. Closely coordinate with Electrical engineering team members to ensure all structural modifications needed are captured in their structural modification drawings. Closely coordinate with manufacturing, assembly, and installation technicians to ensure they understand structural modification installation instructions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

• Decomposition to understand and document needed structural modification
• Ability to perform individual assignments as directed; establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities

• Review of component and system level ICDs to understand structural mounting requirements to successfully integrate components
• Support Manufacturing by providing needed CAD files for production

• Support Integration Team by clarifying installation instructions and solicit feedback on design improvements
• Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of organization goals and objectives, configuration and document controls, project scheduling, standards metrics within the department, and product quality
• Interface with all other departments to ensure a cooperative effort

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Working knowledge of CAD programs (Solidworks, NX, Creo, etc.)
• Excellent written and oral communications skills and technical presentation skills.
• Three (3) or more years in related aerospace engineering experience
• Previous experience with test procedures and analysis development
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, FAA regulations, & military standards/specifications (MIL-STD’s)
• Able to collect data and write reports that define and substantiate structural designs
• Broad technical and analytical engineering experience as applied to design, analysis, product qualification, acceptance test procedures, manufacturing process reporting, and technical writing

Education / Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering from a four-year college or university, or equivalent education and training

Clearance

• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance

Desired Requirements

• Experienced using SIEMENS Team Center and NX
• Experienced with FEA tools
• Experienced with Subsonic & Transonic flow simulation tools
• Experienced with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis
• Experienced with FAA STC certification standards and procedure
