With locations all around the globe, Mad Science is the world’s leading science enrichment provider for children ages three through twelve. We deliver unique, hands-on science experiences and toys for children, that are as entertaining as they are educational. At Mad Science, we are having a BLAST! We pay you to have fun! Build and fly rockets, demonstrate lasers, explore the states of matter using dry ice, and help children create slime and other polymers. You will inspire the next generation of scientists through our innovative activities that show kids what science is really all about.
As a Mad Scientist, you will lead students through an inquiry-based discovery method involving instructor demonstrations, hands-on activities, and amazing take-home projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us. Mad Science is the world's leading provider of fun science programs for elementary-aged children.
This is a part-time to semi full-time position. Pay is a minimum of $50 per class with the possibility of a bonus at the end of the session. (More details at interview.)
We are currently looking for energetic individuals to join our growing team to conduct exciting science, engineering, and technology programs during after-school hours. You do NOT need to be a certified teacher (although we love that!).
Your Primary responsibilities will be to:

• Facilitating day camps, in-person workshops, and after-school science enrichment programs to children from preschool through elementary school
• Deliver high-energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on programs that meet for one hour each week for approximately 8-10 weeks.
• Drive to various locations across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.
• Enjoy teaching young children the art of science!
• Attend paid training sessions at our office.
• Attend the mandatory Friday Staff Meeting every week (paid).
• Be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
• Be on time for all scheduled activities.
• Adhere to strict safety and cleanliness guidelines.

Your Qualifications:

• Some experience working with groups of elementary age (4-12) children (such as an afterschool teacher or camp counselor).
• Must be available at least three weekdays during programming hours (which vary). While this is a part-time position, it is critical that you are able to commit to the length of any given program (camp session, after-school program, etc.), and that you are able to give us steady weekly availability.
• Must have a reliable car as you will be driving to locations in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. New hires will be required to provide proof of valid insurance. (You will be compensated for time driving as well as a portion of mileage if applicable.)
• All employees must: complete a DOJ/FBI background check that must come back clear, and submit a current negative TB Test
• Please note that most customers that we work with (such as school districts) require proof of vaccination and/or COVID testing.
• Minimum of 1 year of college completed. Degrees and/or graduate degrees are a plus.
• Maintain a fun, flexible, & outgoing personality!

We train you in the curriculum and provide all materials. Mad Science classes follow the school calendar and are presented year-round. This is part-time and rewarding work if it fits with your schedule and lifestyle.
