Director of Manufacturing (PCBA) – Job Description

Job Summary

Our MacroFab Director of Manufacturing is responsible for all safety, budgetary, people development and operations objectives for our Manufacturing operations. Responsibilities include managing and leading PCB manufacturing, box assembly, testing, drive perfect quality the first-time, long-term capacity planning, capital equipment planning, maintenance, leading Managers, coaching, and mentoring the team to ensure performance objectives are met, building positive employee relations, building leadership bench strength within MacroFab and be our PBCA subject matter expert.

Responsibilities

• Owns and delivers the operational budget for PCB manufacturing/assembly, including safety, productivity, financial planning, labor planning, and operational goals.
• Responsible for providing strategic level/long-term planning (3, 6, and 12 months out) including labor planning, rate forecasting, and capital planning.
• Sets clear goals and expectations for PCB manufacturing/assembly. Measures performance, provides feedback, and holds leaders accountable.
• Drives creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to enable their functional area and ultimately the whole manufacturing team to meet and exceed business plan.
• Responsible for the overall safety, quality and performance and customer experience of all manufacturing. Will set and clarify requirements and expectations for Manufacturing. Measures performance, provides feedback, and holds Managers accountable for their performance and the performance of their departments.
• Leverages the Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas and rolling them into the creation of improvement plans for the functional area.
• Takes proactive steps to ensure that best practices are shared across all departments, shifts and among MacroFab locations and the partner network.
• Works closely with support staff (PM, Materials, HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT and other leaders to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives, as well as providing needed support and resources for other initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

• A completed bachelor’s degree.
• 7 years PCBA experience.
• Mycronic SMT machine experience, MY300, MY200 pick and place, MY700 jet printer
• Demonstrates a commanding knowledge of circuit board assembly process.
• 7 years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment.
• 7 Experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques.
• 7 Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminations.
• 7 Experience leading an operation comprising both salaried and hourly staff.
• 7 Experience successfully developing others into higher levels of leadership in an organization

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Operations or related field and MBA preferred.
• Experience & expertise with multiple SMT equipment brands.
• Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
• Interest in long-term career development through the growth of MacroFab.
• Bilingual (English & Spanish).
