EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: At will as defined by Human Resources policy
CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Part-time position (up to 29 hours per week). The starting time for this position varies.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under direction, implements all aspects of the Head Start Program in the classroom setting; prepares children by meeting Program goals, objectives and outcomes to ensure the development of readiness skills and meets individual needs as determined through assessment, observation and parent input while reinforcing the role of parent as primary educator; performs related duties as assigned.
This position works in the Head Start Pre-School Program and is vaccine mandated. Please see General Requirements and Disclaimers.
Registers children prior to the start of classes and throughout the Program year.
Conducts standardized screening and assessment of children to ensure child's individual needs are met while integrating program goals, objectives and outcomes.
Plans daily and weekly curricular activities through lesson planning.
Prepares support programs for children with disabilities.
Maintains a clean, safe and healthy classroom environment.
Ensures the desired mental health atmosphere reflected through Positive Behavior Management (PBS) techniques, positive reinforcement and a well-integrated daily schedule.
Plans and purchases food for daily nutritional snacks following a planned menu within the Licensing/USDA regulations.
Provides opportunities for parents or guardians to observe and participate in classroom activities; transitions into and out of Head Start; conducts conferences and home visits as established by Program guidelines.
Participates in training programs, region meetings and in-services.
Arranges classroom furniture and materials to facilitate learning.
Compiles annual classroom inventory of furniture and materials.
Maintains current documentation using appropriate forms of Program activities and services provided, including CACAF food program and attendance forms.
Compiles, prepares and submits information in a timely and accurate manner through manual or internet data entry.
Maintains a positive two-way communication system between parents and the Program.
Participates in Parent/Teacher Conferences and home visits for each child twice per year.
Cooperatively works with staff to implement monthly parent/child/family activities including Literacy Days and Evening Parent Events.
Maintains current information regarding Head Start, local, State and Federal regulations for early childhood programming.
Maintains certification, licensure, First Aid and CPR and continuing education requirements of the program to meet federal and state Child Day Care Licensing Regulations.
Participates fully in all classroom activities, which may include, but not limited to bending, stooping, reaching and sitting on the floor.
Operates an automobile while performing assigned job duties.

This position works in the Head Start program. Head Start requires universal masking for all employees, with some noted exceptions, and vaccination for COVID-19, unless granted a disability or religious exemption.
