Marketing Communications Specialist 2

M.C. Dean is seeking a marketing communications specialist to join our dynamic team based in Tysons, VA. The marketing and communications team is enhancing the company’s brand and digital presence to support marketing, communications, and branding programs. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates to gain cross-disciplinary experience, including strategic marketing and market intelligence, branding, web development, social media, internal communications and corporate social responsibility within a dynamic team. Together we are enhancing M.C. Dean's brand visibility, enabling client growth, promoting employee engagement, and advancing organizational development.

Roles and Responsibilities

Advance strategic, integrated marketing communications campaign efforts and corporate communications programs on behalf of the department. The marketing and communications department operates in a highly collaborative structure that requires each of us to support other members of the team responsible for driving high-priority initiatives. The specialist will be called upon to lead key programs and initiatives as well as support projects led by other members of the team.

Corporate Marketing & Sales Enablement

  • Integrated Marketing Campaigns: Work with department leadership to develop and implement omni-channel (earned, owned, shared and paid) marketing and communications campaigns. The specialist will lead several assigned editorial 'beats' and will support one or more campaigns each year working closely with campaign leads and subject matter experts.

  • Marketing Events and Promotions (Virtual and In-Person): Plan, manage and develop annual conferences, events, award submissions, and department calendars. Lead client-focused marketing and corporate communications activities through the development of print, digital, and multimedia marketing toolkit materials and management of virtual and in-person client-, employee- and recruiting-focused tradeshows and events.

  • Sales Integration and Marketing Platform Enhancements: Support development of marketing technology stack tools and integrations to advance direct client marketing efforts.

Branding & Corporate Communications

  • Branding: Provide brand stewardship through all marketing and communications activities. Support brand consistency, training, and resource development across web, social, and internal communications platforms.

  • Editorial: Prepare communications and collateral for internal and external audiences. Work with internal stakeholders to write news stories, marketing collateral, presentations, video scripts and displays. Manage editorial calendar development, tracking, and weekly newsletters.

  • Change Management: Support change communications campaigns, including message development, employee engagement, and promotional launches for priority human resources, information technology, and safety initiatives.

Research & Reporting

  • Marketing Intelligence Support: Support department market intelligence, competitive analysis, and market segmentation research and reporting efforts.

  • Department Reporting: Work with the marketing and communications leadership to establish campaign metrics. Gather quantitative and qualitative data to obtain feedback on marketing and communications activities and strategies. Present findings and make recommendations for further action. Provide input for weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or Communications with 2-4 years of experience.

  • Minimum of 4 years of agency or in-house experience in marketing or communications

  • Prior work in U.S. Federal contracting, technology, or AEC industries

  • Successful candidates will be intellectually curious, self-starters, driven to uncover and tackle new challenges

  • Must enjoy working with information that is technical in nature and be able to tailor that information for both non-technical and specialized audiences

  • Excellent written communications skills with knowledge of AP Style guidelines

  • Mastery of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)

  • Highly collaborative team player willing to jump in to support others on the team

  • Must be adaptable, independent, able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, and creatively solve problems

  • Organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated analytical skills with research experience

  • Applicant must be highly driven to complete key objectives; position requires some travel and occasional work beyond 40 hours per week

Desired Experience

  • Familiarity with SharePoint and website content management systems

  • Experience with web analytics and media and social media distribution and tracking tools

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)

  • Experience with data/statistical analysis tools

  • Basic HTML and CSS a plus

  • Master's degree a plus
