Lynker Corporation is Hiring a Cloud Engineer Near Tuscaloosa, AL

Description

Lynker is supporting the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in providing comprehensive river and flood forecasts and warnings, for use by the public and emergency managers to protect life and property. This critical water intelligence also supports socio-economic decision-making for a sustained and enhanced economy.

We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to work on the team that provides integrated water prediction, forecasting the movement and presence of water throughout the nation in terms of quantity and availability, from summit to sea, treetop to bedrock, with the appropriate timeliness, resolution, reliability, accuracy, and quantified uncertainty required to inform risk-based water resource management decisions.

Responsibility:
The Cloud Engineer will design, implement and execute on the modernization of critical IT system infrastructure supporting the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This includes migrating, reporting on, managing and architecting the cloud presence

Requirements

Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of DevOps in a hybrid on-premise and cloud environment 
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and standards 
  • Excellent organization skills and documentation 
  • Skilled at presenting new ideas to senior management 
  • Program languages: Python and R

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years hands-on experience managing cloud instances in AWS. 
  • Strong knowledge and experience supporting containers via Docker and Kubernetes 
  • Experience designing IT infrastructure across multiple geographic locations 
  • Experience with VMware environments 
  • Experience with enterprise tools for patching IT systems 
  • Experience connecting multiple data sources 
  • BS/BA in computer science or similar 
  • Experience utilizing Tenable and resolve system vulnerabilities 
  • Desired experience with: Terraform, AWS Cloud Formation, Ansible, Puppet
