SUMMARY:

The Welder is a vital member of the LTI, Inc. Maintenance team. The primary duty of the Welder is performing fabrication and repair to all LTI, Inc. Equipment; primarily our fleet of food grade stainless steel tank trailers, while observing all company safety and regulatory policies. The Welder works in close collaboration with Maintenance Managers, Truck Shop Employees, and Maintenance Assistants, as well as our Drivers, Wash Bay Staff and Yard Crew.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Complies with all company safety policies, including use of protective equipment.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with DOSH and OSHA standards
  • Follows policies for inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of LTII equipment.
  • Weld / Grind / Polish mild and stainless steel to food grade finish
  • Fabricate and repair stainless steel tankers
  • Climb Ladders
  • Keep work area clean safe and orderly
  • Must sometimes work in Permit Confined spaces for extended periods of time
  • Assist the truck shop technicians in performing maintenance and repairs to tractors
  • Worker makes certain that all emergency equipment such as chains, light bulbs, fuses, etc. are available in case of need.
  • Performs all truck, tanker and trailer maintenance necessary as defined by LTII requirements.
  • Accurately diagnoses and repairs LTII equipment, removing and installing truck, tanker and trailer parts correctly and safely. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Complete repair orders using company maintenance software systems, recording materials used, type of work accomplished and maintenance system codes.
  • Must possess the ability to safely and properly use shop tools such as Welders, drill press, grinders, band saws, calipers, plasma cutters, oxy-acetylene torches, hand tools and other shop general tools
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Technical School degree in related field is recommended, or 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of

education and experience.

  • Proficient in MIG and TIG Stainless Steel and Aluminum Welding
  • Ability to read and understand shop drawings
  • Able to perform basic shop math accurately
  • Must be able to work individually and in Team environment
  • Consistently demonstrate a positive and “Can Do” Attitude
  • Able to work overtime and multiple shifts
  • Able to determine material types and gauges
  • Must possess a keen attention to detail and the ability to follow all safety regulationsMust possess effective written and verbal communication skills (fluent English required, additional languages a plus)

WABO Certification a plus

Forklift Certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

Employee is required to wear PPE as outlined in Company’s Industrial Health and Safety Manual Chapter 2.27 PPE Program, which may include hard hat, safety toe shoes/boots, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection, respiratory protection and arctic gear.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to moderately loud.

Random drug testing is required of all LTI, Inc. employees.
