Lycee Francais de la Nouvelle Orleans is Hiring a Senior Accountant Near Orleans, LA

Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for all accounting functions in Quickbooks and Bill.com, and is the primary point of contact for purchasing, reimbursements, and billing for Lycée and its affiliate entities.

Role and Responsibilities

The duties of the Senior Accountant include, but are not limited to the following tasks:

Accounting and Procurement

  • Maintaining accounting functions in Quickbooks and Bill.com including:
    • Recording vendor invoices and processing invoices for payment
    • Preparing and sending bills to customers
    • Managing vendor and customer accounts and relationships
    • Making bank deposits
    • Maintenance of vendor contracts
  • Managing cash collections and employee expense reimbursements
  • Managing school-wide purchase order process for teachers, maintenance and academic departments
  • Managing travel and registration for professional development of staff
  • Serving as a liaison between the Finance Department and teachers, parents, and vendors. 
  • Monthly Reconciliation of credit card statements.
  • Monthly reconciliation of bank account, GL etc
  • Compiling various financial/accounting schedules, documents, financial statements and performs
  • subsequent analysis
  • Being responsible for all transactions being recorded correctly in the general ledger to prepare
  • accurate financial statements for monthly board reporting
  • Ensuring transactions are in accordance with GAAP and that internal policies and procedures are followed.
  • Assisting in preparation of schedules, reports and financial statements for the annual audit and 990 reporting
  • Assurances of compliance relative to local and state wide policies and procedures including but not limited to Louisiana Legislative Auditors: Agreed upon Procedures (AUPs).
  • Responds to inquiries and requests for relative financial information from stakeholders
  • Medicaid billing and reporting.
  • Preparation of schedules, reports and financial statements for the annual audit and 990 reporting.
  • Gift card purchasing and inventory management.

Payroll

  • Preparing payroll timesheet bi-weekly for more than 200 foreign and domestic employees.
  • Communication with employees regarding payroll 
  • Assisting the Director of Human Resources with tasks related to changes in staff, offboarding and onboarding
  • Troubleshoot Paylocity issues

Budget

  • Prepare departmental budgets for each campus
  • Assisting departments in preparing budgets based on goals, current revenue, expenses and past performance
  • Participate in multiple, special, and confidential projects as assigned

Requirements

 Expectations, Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Two or more years experience performing accounting functions in school setting
  • Well developed interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with Bill.com
  • Experience with an educational organization preferred
  • Interest in and experience with French culture; French proficiency 
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Powerpoint
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) applicable to nonprofits and governmental sectors;
  • Thorough knowledge with the Louisiana Department of Education LAUGH guid.
