Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director of Strategy (DOS) is a necessary supplement to the operational and day-to-day tactics of the organization and supports the organization CEO in instilling discipline in the application of long-range vision and strategy in its decision-making process. A key contribution of the DOS will be to "connect the dots" and, in doing so, inform and improve critical processes including executive decision-making, ongoing strategic planning and promoting new business development (including through the development of business plans). The DOS will constantly monitor and interpret the environmental landscape and how those dynamics impact LIRS from a strategic perspective, and when circumstances warrant, lead organizational initiatives to address external challenges.

DUTIES

• Continuously survey the external landscape with strategic foresight - through reading, conversation, engagement with experts and personal exposure - to identify and assess events, trends, ideas, opportunities, challenges, etc. that may impact the space in which LIRS operates and translate this information into recommendations for new strategic initiatives.
• Develop business plans and implement key strategic initiatives or provide input and resources to support other departments in those efforts.
• Support the President & CEO and key senior leadership in the launching of new business initiatives.
• In partnership with the President & CEO and Chief of Staff (COS), manage the implementation of the organizational strategic plan and key strategic initiatives.
• Monitors and manages key deliverables of the strategic plan.
• In Partnership with COS, manages organizational dashboard to track key KPI's and monitor the success of the strategic plan.
• Builds strong cross-functional relationships with internal departments to implement business strategies.
• Communicate and support implementation of the organization's strategy internally and externally ensuring all stakeholders - staff, partners, organizational leaders and other stakeholders - are inspired by the vision, understand the strategic plan and see clearly how it fulfills the organization's mission.
• Lead change and execute on business objectives through oversight and management of key stakeholders and owners.
• Facilitates scenario planning for the organization, monitoring key external factors that may impact the organization in the future.
• May supervise other staff

QUALIFICATIONS

• Undergraduate degree in Business, or other relevant degree or equivalent experience; graduate degree preferably a Master of Business Administration degree.
• 8 years of progressive work years of experience in developing and implementing new business strategies, analysis of data to formulate business plans, and building stakeholder investment.
• 5 years of progressively responsible experience managing staff and key initiatives.
• Experience in the for-profit industry is highly desirable. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with some after hours and weekend work needed.
• Exceptional communication skills, able to listen actively; speak and write persuasively.
• Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills; able to discern, plan, and evaluate courses of action.
• A high degree of initiative; able to conceptualize, articulate, and cultivate collaboration in innovative strategies.
• Deep commitment to LIRS' core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.
