To learn more about LCSNW, please visit our website https://lcsnw.org/program/victim-advocacy-and-education/Program Overview The Victim Advocate provides support, crisis intervention, and general, medical, and legal advocacy for primary and/or secondary survivors. We provide valuable tools and training for staff to learn how to navigate crisis and conflict by empowering and supporting survivors in the aftermath of abuse and trauma. Victim advocacy offers support, information and referral to resources and specific wrap-around support so people can make informed and empowered decisions. Key ResponsibilitiesProvides the following to primary and secondary survivors of trauma● Provides phone coverage and crisis response during assigned shifts on the 24-hour hotline during business and after-hours including but not limited to responding to emergency rooms. ● Works with the team to provide administrative backup on designated weeknight, weekend, and holiday coverage shifts.● Provides crisis intervention; safety planning; information, referral and awareness.● General advocacy including but not limited to ongoing personal support; providing information about the effects of victimization; arranging of services; connecting to psycho-educational support groups or therapy as needed to enhance healing; and consulting with others with permission from survivors.● Medical advocacy including but not limited to informing survivors of their rights in medical settings; assisting survivors in making informed decisions about medical care; providing information on medical care/concerns; providing support at medical exams and appointments; and providing information about Crime Victim Compensation and helping to locate providers.● Legal Advocacy including but not limited to assistance in making informed decisions about reporting to law enforcement or other entities; informing survivors of their rights in legal settings; providing information about the criminal justice system, civil remedies, and dependency/family/juvenile court proceedings; preparing survivor for court hearings/trials; supporting survivor at interviews, trial, sentencing, and post-conviction; assisting with civil protection orders, criminal no contact orders, and more; actively monitoring case with survivor permission; and assisting with connection to legal services in the community.● Maintain client files and track records in accordance with LCSNW policies and standards.● Maintains and protects the confidentiality of all clients and participants. Observe all program requirements for confidentiality and privileged communication.● Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served. ● Develops collaborative relationships and partnerships with entities to better meet the needs of survivors.● Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining professional attitude and respectful demeanor with clients, co-workers, community partners, and supervisors at all times.● Maintains annual training requirements for professional certification● Must hold a valid Driver’s License and have dependable transportation.● Must be cleared through the Washington State Patrol and the FBI to work with children and vulnerable adults.Position Opportunities● Make an impact in the lives of trauma survivors in your community● Work within a passionate, diverse team of LCSNW staff and volunteers● Gain deeper knowledge and understanding about trauma and violence● Receive comprehensive training, support and professional development in the field of victim services● Make valuable connections with other agencies and community leaders● Build experience and skill in advocacy, community organizing and leadershipHours, Pay, Benefits● Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:00AM-5:00PM; Friday 8:30AM-3:00PM and on call rotation ● Hybrid work schedule ● 10 Paid Holidays plus 2 Floating Holidays each year.● Vacation includes up to 2 weeks in the first year, with an increase up to 3 weeks in the second year and incrementally up● 2 ½ weeks of sick leave ● Medical, vision and dental benefits ● A 403(b) Retirement plan, with employer matching contributions after meeting eligibility requirements.● Benefit eligibility dependent upon employment status.Education/Experience: LCSNW acknowledges that women and individuals from marginalized and minority backgrounds are less likely to apply for positions if they do not meet all of the education and experience qualifications.
