Lutheran Community Services Northwest is Hiring a Remote Senior Accountant-(Remote position from Washington, Oregon or Idaho)

$25.20 - $41.22 an hour*This position can be done remotely from one of our three operating states-Washington, Oregon or Idaho*POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant owns the key business accounting cycles and balance sheet accounts for consolidated LCSNW and its affiliates. The Senior Accountant ensures the Agency prepares financial statements that reflect accurate, timely and relevant financial activity recorded according to GAAP and compliant with the Uniform Guidance for LCSNW, Compass Housing Alliance, and all associated consolidating companies. The Senior Accountant embeds a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in all work performed and produces reports consistent with internal and external user requirements, supports the implementation of new accounting standards, and prepares materials for the auditors and tax returns. The Senior Accountant collaborates with program leaders, finance directors, and other leaders of LCSNW and its affiliate, Compass Housing Alliance. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Own one or more business cycles and related systems, controls, and Balance Sheet accountsincluding GAAP accounting for related estimates2. Own the process of tracking, preparing, and key financial schedules and policy compliance relatingto the portfolio of accounts and business cycles3. Prepare journal entries and review and post journal entries as assigned4. Prepare reconciliations and review reconciliations prepared by others5. Maintain the Chart of Accounts and related segments6. Prepare schedules for audits and tax returns.7. Recommend and implement improvements to existing systems, controls, work processes andprocedures8. Produce ad‐hoc reporting and analysis to support business operational, development, financialrequirements9. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.● Ability to work as a collaborative team member with people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, andperspectives● Solid accounting knowledge and experience with internal controls with the ability to solve researchand resolve problems● Direct and relevant experience applying GAAP● Self‐directed and ability to take ownership and see projects to completion● Communicator of ideas and concepts and translator of accounting information for non‐accountants● Work with initiative under deadlines and flexibility as priorities shift● Passion for relentless improvement● Process and systems’ sensible QUALIFICATIONS: A combination of the experience, education, and training listed below which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:● Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience● Advanced Excel and intermediate Adobe skills● Direct experience in general ledger accounting● Financial ERP systems experience EXPERIENCE DESIRED: ● Bachelor's degree in Finance or related fieldNot‐for‐profit or healthcare experience● Fund accounting system such as Sage MIP● Systems’ implementation● Public accounting The Perks: We offer a full benefits package with options for medical, vision and dental insurance. Vacation includes up to 2 weeks in the first year, with an increase up to 3 weeks in the second year and incrementally up to 5 weeks after 6 years (based on hours worked).
