Lutheran Community Services Northwest is Hiring a Case Manager Near Portland, OR

CASE MANAGER- ORCASPOSITION SUMMARY: As a Case Manager under the ORCAS’s program, this position will have direct contact with children, youth, and parents, case managers of voluntary agencies, and public schools in Oregon that are highly impacted by newly arrived refugee students (namely Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties) and other educational programs. The position acts as liaison between clients and schools and other educational support services. In this role you will conduct appropriate outreach activities to share information on program services to schools; provide school orientation to students and parents, provide interpretation assistance (if appropriate) or facilitate interpretation requests at/for clients’ parent-teacher meetings; and refer clients to other service providers for more resources (if appropriate).______________________________________________________________________ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Connect students to afterschool activities (including homework help) and summer programs. Maintain ongoing communication with and take directions from Program Supervisor relating to performance of the job functions.Provide program services to clients in a timely and respectful manner.Conduct program intake based on established procedures for enrollment in ORCAS.Distribute information to school contacts on program services.Provide the necessary support to clients to achieve school success.Provide or request interpretation services for clients at parent-school meetings, parent-school orientations, and other appropriate activities.Track and monitor student grades and attendance through regular contacts with families and teachers/school counselors.Maintain updated case notes of clients at all times.Submit monthly reports to Program SupervisorAttend meetings to provide updates and other meetings as directed by Program Supervisor.Accept referrals from other language groups for program services.Conduct follow-up activities and complete tasks in a timely manner. Maintain at all times a high standard of professionalism with families, schools, ORCAS and community partners, staff, and general community.Maintain compliance with all relevant program/department requirements, including and not limited to adhering to all record-keeping and reporting requirements.Model and encourage direct, professional communication among staff members and facilitate development of a positive staff support network.Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served.Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibility: None______________________________________________________________________QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: HS diploma or GED required. Must be a strong advocate for refugee children/youth and families. Must have experience working with the refugee community and experience working in a multicultural setting. Credentials: n/a General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to work well under pressure and work effectively in a multicultural setting, demonstrating excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills.Practical knowledge working directly with US public schools’ (K-12 grades) and skills in seeking out academic enhancement and educational enrichment programs in school districts in Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties. Ability to work cooperatively with school personnel, community providers, and staff members. Transportation: This position is responsible for driving clients in a personal and/or agency vehicle. Language Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write, and speak in English. Fluency in the additional following language(s): Dari, Pashto, Arabic, Russian, or Ukrainian preferred. Mathematical: Basic mathematical skills required. Reasoning Ability: Must have excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, and skilled in setting priorities for performing job-related tasks. Be a dependable team member. Clearances: Standard LCSNW standard criminal history background check, including National Sex Offender Registry, Motor Vehicle Services (DMV), valid driver license and current auto insurance.______________________________________________________________________PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands and work environment described are representative of those that must be met/may be encountered by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Location: This position functions as a hybrid position, with 40% of time anticipated to be on site.Setting: This position works in a variety of settings, including: LCSNW office location(s), client home/community settings, partner agency and community-based settings.Hours: This position follows standard business hours all or most of the time, with occasional evenings and/or weekends.Physical: While performing the duties of this job, the employee, is regularly required to sit, talk/hear, stand and walk.Noise: The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate
