Luminator Technology Group is Hiring an Embedded Software Engineer Near Plano, TX

Luminator is a leading innovator in the design and manufacturing of communications and lighting products for more than 90 years in transit, rail, and aerospace industries. We are seeking to fill our full-time Embedded Software Engineer role to join our growing and dynamic Engineering team where you will be an integral part of the team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and the Company.

The successful Embedded Software Engineer candidate will be part of a team working to expand a strong and proven concept that has solid growth potential, with the opportunity to create substantial shareholder value. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining embedded software in accordance with industry best practices. This role also creates and optimizes code, integrates real-time operating systems, develops device drivers, and ensures seamless interaction between hardware and software components while delivering reliable and efficient embedded systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The successful candidate will have the ability to challenge the organization effectively, resolve problems, and willing to provide a hands-on approach in finding solutions. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily.   • Embedded Software Development: Develop and implement embedded software solutions using C/C and other relevant programming languages.
  • RTOS Integration: Design, configure, and integrate real-time operating systems (RTOS) into the embedded software architecture.
  • Device Driver Development: Create and maintain device drivers and peripheral communication protocols to ensure seamless interaction between hardware components and software.
  • Debugging and Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve software defects, system malfunctions, and performance bottlenecks through debugging and testing.
  • Code Optimization: Continuously optimize software code for memory and performance efficiency, ensuring that the embedded system operates at its full potential.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, firmware engineers, and QA testers, to ensure smooth integration of software components.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software design, coding standards, and project-related information.
  • Compliance: Ensure that embedded software adheres to industry standards, safety regulations, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in software testing, verification, and validation activities to ensure the reliability and robustness of the embedded systems.
  • Version Control: Maintaining version control systems, such as Git, for code repositories and managing software versions effectively.
  • Support and Maintenance: Provide ongoing support and maintenance for embedded software, including troubleshooting issues, implementing updates, & performing software upgrades as needed.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Embedded Software Engineer will be an experienced candidate who can successfully lead as a very hands-on Director of Operations to scale for additional growth and maximize potential.

This candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Ability to Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • 1-3 years of experience in embedded software development, including real-time systems and device driver development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field required. Advanced degree preferred.

ADDITIONAL PRIORITIES: 

The Embedded Software Engineer will prioritize and broadly execute the following:

  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Ability to comprehend lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies.
  • This position may require evening, weekend or other shift work depending on the customer and business needs.
