Luminator is seeking to fill our full-time Cost Accountant role to join our growing and dynamic Finance and Accounting team where you will be an integral part of the team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and Luminator. Summary:

Luminator is seeking a Cost Accountant who is committed to transparency, diversity, teamwork, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for performing manufacturing cost accounting activities to support the company’s North America accounting team and assist our operations team with analyses to better understand its manufacturing cost performance. This role will be integral in setting the tone and culture at Luminator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform manufacturing cost accounting activities including inventory reconciliation, standard cost reviews, analysis of manufacturing variances and excess & obsolete inventory reserve
  • Perform periodic standard cost reviews and analysis to recommend changes to those standard
  • Develop, maintain, and review standard costs of material, including assistance with the standard cost roll
  • Reviews and analyzes actual costs to identify inaccuracies
  • Prepares necessary departmental and company-wide budgeting reports
  • Partner with operations team to understanding manufacturing operating costs
  • Performs month-end and year-end closings with assistance
  • Interface with product development to project standard COGS for new products
  • Review inventory cycle count process and results
  • Support general ledger month-end closing activities with multi-currency, international business
  • Address annual external audit requirements and inquiries
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without accommodation. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as accounting software.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or other related degree program required
  • 1 years of cost accounting experience required
  • 5 years of general accounting work experience within a manufacturing company preferred 
  • Prefer accounting accreditation such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
