Lumencor is Hiring a Quality Assurance Technician Near Beaverton, OR

About Us:

Lumencor, Inc., based in Beaverton, Oregon, manufactures high-performance solid state lighting subsystems, "light engines," for bioanalytical instruments, medical devices and life science research tools. Products are sold worldwide to equipment manufacturers (OEMs), distributors, laboratories and individual researchers.

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for the inspection of raw materials, in-process nonconforming products, and other items as required. This position is required to follow quality inspection procedures and to demonstrate a working knowledge of technical specifications, manufacturing test plans, and drawings. The Quality Control Technician is expected to perform essential duties that maintain an effective quality system, support quality improvement projects on the manufacturing floor and ensure product quality including support of the calibration system for manufacturing. This position will support the company’s goal of ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 QMS requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs first article inspections and incoming quality control inspections of raw materials for manufacturing and engineering.
  • Inspects items to parameters listed on drawings or quality specification sheets.
  • Initiates and manages nonconforming material reports, manages MRB inventory and carries out disposition of material as determined by the MRB team.
  • Collects and compiles prescribed quality data and records test results for trending analysis and discussion.
  • Maintains quality data records, compiles information, and prepares quality reports.
  • Assists Quality Engineer with process improvement, material qualification, and other quality related projects.
  • Supports calibration activities for critical manufacturing devices and metrology.
  • Communicates quality data and process observations to Quality team.
  • Makes recommendations for improving products and processes.
  • Participates in root cause analysis and implementation of CAPAs.
  • Assists as directed in the support of the internal audit program.

Requirements:

  • Associate or B.S. degree in quality, science, or technically related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience using quality tools (root cause analysis, 8D, process auditing, inspection, process definition, continuous improvement) in an ISO 9001 or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and enforcing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Experience creating documents and managing test data. 
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills. 
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Resourcefulness and willingness to learn new systems, techniques, and technologies.
