Electrical Engineer

Summary:

LSPT is seeking to fill a role that will work as part of a development team to conduct research and develop cutting-edge technologies from concept through commercial product realization using high energy pulsed laser systems as applied to metal surface enhancement, peen forming of metals, and non-destructive testing of composite materials. This individual will work collaboratively to develop next-generation product solutions to meet customer and market needs and support our global customer base.

This position is a highly technical role that combines principles of electrical system design and layout to support product development for industrial laser peening, laser peen forming, and laser bond inspection equipment. Since this role involves internal and external collaborations, excellent communication and presentation skills are also required.

This position resides within the LSPT Engineering Department, reporting directly to the Head of Control Systems Engineering.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform engineering projects as part of the development and implementation of LSPT processing services and equipment.
  • Design electrical systems and deliver electrical drawings and bill of materials.
  • Support the build and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Design, prototype, and validate printed circuit boards as necessary.
  • Conduct verification & validation testing to support conceptual or prototype designs.
  • Ensure analyses and data are accurate and are performed in accordance with appropriate engineering standards using calibrated equipment.
  • Perform all functions in accordance with the requirements of the LSPT Quality Management System.
  • Perform analysis of designs using FMEA techniques as required.
  • Support LSP Technologies’ Mission, Vision, and Goals.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with industrial machine design. Experience with NEC, NFPA 79 preferred.
  • Experience with PCB design software. Experience with EAGLE preferred.
  • Experience with industrial control system hardware. Experience with Beckhoff platform preferred.
  • Experience with machine and functional safety preferred (i.e. IEC 61508 & 62061, ISO 13849).
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality systems.
  • Some task/project management experience. Experience with Kanban preferred.
  • Advanced presentation and documentation skills.

Education/Experience:

  • B.S. – Electrical or Computer Engineering with 2 years of experience.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in related field is preferred.
  • Able to work on US Department of Defense contracts.
