Position Purpose
The Staff Psychiatrist is part of a multidisciplinary team that provides comprehensive psychiatry care to patients with HIV.The Staff Psychiatrist works autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of staff to diagnose and manage patients' psychiatric and behavioral health care problems.Participation in the development, expansion, and maintenance of the Vivent Health Behavioral Health and Psychiatry program is expected.
Under the leadership and in coordination with the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Operating Officer, the Behavioral Health (BH) and Psychiatry Program Director provides enterprise-wide leadership in BH and Psychiatric services and ensures that all employees provide the highest quality of care and services to Vivent Health patients. Additionally, the BH and Psychiatry Program Director collaborates with care and service providers, operational leadership, and enterprise-wide service teams to develop and maintain the BH and Psychiatry program for Vivent Health.
BH and Psychiatry Program directorship appointments must be renewed by Vivent Health leadership annually and are not guaranteed to any individual. Appointments require the successful performance of clinical functions and reappointments require the successful performance of both administrative and clinical functions. The BH and Psychiatry Program Director will include a reduction in clinical effort (cFTE) for administrative work and a stipend, while the rest of the time will be providing direct patient care and/or supervision as described in the Employee's current job description. If a directorship appointment is not renewed in the future, clinical effort in the current job description will resume.
Essential Functions of Staff Psychiatrist
  • Provide direct psychiatry services to people accessing the Vivent Health Psychiatry Center, including HIV, primary care, PrEP and STI treatment. Care includes, but is not limited to a comprehensive psychiatry history, physical exam, assessment, and development of a treatment plan.Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies.Provide patient care to meet the total needs of the patient.
  • Prescribe or recommend pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies including controlled substances as the law permits.
  • Document treatment services provided or recommended in the Epic EHR.
  • Assess patient needs for additional internal (e.g., case management) and external (e.g., specialty care) services.Refer and assist patients to ensure access to additional supportive services.
  • Follow clinic protocols and procedures in providing and documenting services.
  • Continually update own knowledge of Psychiatry and HIV/AIDS through reading, conference attendance, lectures, and other educational opportunities.
  • Comply with Vivent Health's Corporate Compliance Standards of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Essential Functions of BH and Psychiatry Program Director:
  • Provides clinical leadership and fosters a just culture, which ensures evidence-based care, quality improvement, and excellence in patient care and safety.
  • In partnership with the CMO and Health Services Optimization team, maintains enterprise-wide evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and standards for BH and Psychiatric care
  • Serves as the subject matter expert within their respective field.
Major Responsibilities of BH and Psychiatry Program Director:
  • In partnership with CMO, COO, and Health Services Optimization (HSO) team, help develop, implement, and review guidelines, standards, and protocols for BH and Psychiatric care and services enterprise-wide.
  • Ensure integration of BH and Psychiatry into the Medical Home Model
  • Provide leadership for the continued development and expansion of the Vivent Health BH and Psychiatry program.
  • Implement onboardings, workflows, and trainings for the BH and Psychiatry program.
  • Work with Operations to manage provider staffing to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
  • Serves as the clinical QI lead for BH and Psychiatry to ensure continued improvement of patient outcomes through participation in establishing annual quality improvement and outcome goals and provide leadership to ensure that care teams successfully identify and implement sustainable changes to meet those goals.
  • Conducts specialty audits and reviews reports for quality of care and adherence to BH and Psychiatry guidelines and standards.
  • Reviews all incident reports and complications related to BH and Psychiatry care and assures needed actions for system and individual improvement are completed.
  • Provides input into the development of the annual budget and operations plan for the BH and Psychiatry service. Participate in ongoing monitoring of volume vs. budget to assure that the clinic operates within budget, with an emphasis on provider productivity and maximizing reimbursement revenue.
Supervisory Responsibilities of BH and Psychiatry Program Director:
  • Provides clinical oversight and management for all Psychiatry practitioners providing care within the department.
  • Responsible for the administrative management and supervision of the Psychiatry practitioners.
Qualifications
  • Board Certified Psychiatry and licensed to practice medicine in the respective state(s).
  • A commitment to an integrated, collaborative care model, continuous quality improvement, and excellent patient relations in all aspects of the delivery of psychiatry care and operations of a medical home.
  • A willingness to travel within the designated territory and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed is required. Additionally, there are on-call hours that include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, research and analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • A commitment to teamwork to build comprehensive systems of care and support for patients living with HIV/AIDS.
Salary:
$226,000/annually - $275,000/annually (Depending on Experience)
