Loretto is Hiring a Business Intelligence Developer Near Syracuse, NY

Overview

The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for the analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and support of mission-critical, enterprise BI reporting, dashboards, and data visualizations. This position requires strong technical experience in BI development, analytics, and data presentation. The ability to abstract disparate data from multiple sources into meaningful information is essential for success.

Responsibilities

Job duties specific to this position:

  • Communicates with business unit management / staff on a regular basis to identify potential areas where advanced business analytics can be applied to improve patient care, operations, or financial outcomes.
  • Leads modeling, analytics, reporting, and data visualization initiatives that drive effective clinical and business decisions.
  • Leads / participates in gathering business analytics requirements and translating those requirements into technical designs for enterprise business intelligence implementation.
  • Engages business customers through prototyping and iterative designs that emphasize speed-to-market results.
  • Designs, develops, tests, implements, and supports mission-critical, enterprise BI applications.
  • Establishes / manages the BI data model. Creates a common and consistent vocabulary, definition, and use of the data assets.
  • Designs / implements scripts to import data from disparate source systems into the BI data model.
  • Performs data profiling and data quality analysis to understand and bring awareness of the current state of the data, and develops recommendations, as required, to improve the use, organization, and consistency of data assets with the existing data models.
  • Establishes / maintains data-level security within BI implementations to ensure critical and sensitive data elements are exposed only to those authorized to view.
  • Establishes standards, processes, and guidelines for the design, development, tuning, deployment, and maintenance of BI applications.
  • Continuously evaluates BI tools and architectures against emerging technology trends to ensure solutions remain scalable and performing effectively and efficiently.
  • Shares awareness and new developments in the areas of data analytics, business intelligence, and visualization with business customers.
  • Also prototypes / designs / builds technical solutions that enable data sharing through web services and related interoperability services as well as across varied technology platforms including distributed and mobile.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems.
  • 3-5 years of IT professional experience.
  • 3 years of experience in business intelligence development, analytics, and data presentation.
  • Expert in programming languages (e.g. C#, ASP.NET MVC, JavaScript, CSS).
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server technology stack (e.g. SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, and Stored Procedures).
  • Excellent analysis, problem solving, and communication skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with contemporary business intelligence tools (e.g. Qlik, Tableau, PowerBI).
  • Experience in Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Health Information Exchange (HIE) environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of data design and multi-dimensional data modeling using data cubes or other OLAP platforms.

An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
