Summary: This position provides HR support to the entire organization. The Director of HR will focus to strategically align HR areas of responsibility to meet overall business objectives and help build a winning culture. The successful candidate must be proficient in reviewing, implementing, and administering all areas of responsibility including recruitment; on-boarding; compensation; benefits; performance management; organizational and employee development; regulatory and labor law compliance; employee relations; and federal and state labor laws (Ohio). Of crucial importance is the focus on internal customer service to all levels of employees in the organization. Must understand the importance of being an employee advocate while ensuring business needs are achieved.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops organizational strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organizational strategic thinking and direction
  • Establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives.
  • Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health benefits, training and development, records management, succession planning, employee relations and retention, EEO compliance, and labor relations
  • Manages human resources operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining departmental staff
  • Planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing departmental staff job contributions; maintaining compensation; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies
  • Designing systems, accumulating resources, resolving problems and implementing change.
  • Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions; analyzing information and applications
  • Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Work with insurance broker on benefit renewals
  • Processes and manages all unemployment and workers comp claims, FMLA, Short Term Disability, and Long Term Disability leave
  • Manages HR team
  • Participates in all other cross functional areas of HR
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management

  • Managing and Measuring – Clearly assigns responsibility for tasks and decisions. Sets clear objective and measures. Monitors process, progress and results.

Experience and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR/Business Administration or related field plus 2 years of HR experience
  • Knowledge of Word Processing software. Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook a must
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Possesses leadership skills and abilities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to details
