Loeb.nyc is Hiring a Shoplift: Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer Near New York, NY

About Shoplift

Shoplift is a seed-stage SaaS startup. Our product is a web app that allows Shopify merchants to increase their revenue by optimizing their stores with easy, no-code A/B testing.

Shoplift is the first platform to offer Shopify merchants a truly no-code A/B testing experience

by natively integrating with their store. Other A/B testing platforms attempt to provide a visual editor by giving users a clunky HTML-class-based UI that is typically buggy and ends up limiting non-technical users to making simple text or image changes, but Shoplift cuts out this abstraction layer by tapping into Shopify's own template format, giving users dramatically more power and flexibility to interact with test variants as if they were editing their own theme. Shoplift also provides merchants test recommendations, as well as a new feature called Lift Assist that is able to use a merchant's brand styles to generate entirely new components and features to their theme.

We're coming out of private beta and are looking to rapidly increase our product velocity in order to acquire and delight new customers. We have a clear roadmap, but we’re constrained on bandwidth, so we’re looking for a versatile, experienced dev who can hit the ground running. We are a small team, but are very organized and methodical, so you’ll have a lot on your plate but definitely won’t be overwhelmed by shifting priorities.

This is a unique opportunity to be the principal owner of a fast-growing SaaS product and to quickly grow into a leadership role.

About the role

  • You’ll get to spend your time writing code without distractions. We keep meetings to a minimum other than daily stand-ups
  • Own large features and be expected to see them through to completion
  • Scope and architect projects with complex requirements
  • Work with other engineers and cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and data scientists to deliver powerful and accessible features
  • Maintain and extend our relational database architecture and tracking apparatus to support new algorithmic features
  • Develop user interfaces with Typescript (Vue.js) and the backend architecture required to power them with C# and PostgreSQL
  • Contribute to resource planning and roadmap discussions
  • Build, maintain, parse, manipulate, and leverage Shopify-specific assets written and constructed in Liquid and JSON
  • Help balance team bandwidth and priorities in order to meet short-term and long-term goals

About you

  • You like to solve problems quickly, objectively, and systematically.
  • You're a grinder. You're willing to put in the hours to meet the goal.
  • You’re thoughtful and resourceful. For you, problem-solving starts with a clear understanding of the context and an open mind to a wide array of potential solutions.
  • You're a quick learner. You can take a look at something you've never seen before and make sense of it quickly.
  • You are the type of person who holds yourself accountable on goals, timelines, and quality of work. You like to follow up on changes you’ve shipped to ensure they are working as expected.
  • You are a true technologist who is always looking for new, better ways to do things
  • You care about the “why.” You want to understand the bigger picture of how the feature you’re building is benefitting users
  • You’re a Swiss army knife who is equally comfortable with high-level architecture work and front-end UI implementation
  • Team player: For you, work isn't a solo endeavor. You enjoy collaborating cross-functionally to accomplish shared goals, and you care about learning, growing, and helping others to do the same.
  • You like to be efficient and have a knack for orchestrating your workflows in ways that minimize repetition
  • You’re a good communicator and a good listener: you’re able to discuss concepts with non-technical stakeholders. You have the patience to communicate nuanced ideas clearly.
  • You want to be a part of the excitement of a fast-growing company (and all the highs and lows that come with it)

Requirements

  • 5 years of hands-on experience owning entire products or features
  • 5 years professional experience working with some combination of C#, Typescript, Vue/React (or similar frameworks), and Postgres (or similar relational databases)
  • Experience working for a startup
  • Expertise in databases, data structures, and algorithms
  • Experience with Entity Framework Core (with heavy/optimized use of LINQ)
  • Experience with asynchronous programming patterns
  • Experience with .NET Core/.NET 5 runtime
  • Experience with Agile development practices, continuous integration and refactoring
  • Must be able to articulate ideas effectively to executives and business leaders
  • Must be willing to make key strategic decisions, communicate the reasoning behind those decisions, and follow through on driving adoption

Nice to have

  • You’re located in NYC-area and willing to occasionally come into the office
  • Experience with Liquid and/or the Shopify ecosystem
  • Experience designing and developing machine learning models and algorithms
  • Education: A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation that includes equity options
  • Flexible hybrid work policy
  • Daily Seamless lunch stipend (when in-office)
  • Flexible work environment where you can choose when to socialize and when to focus
  • Free food: bagels every Tuesday, pizza every Thursday, and a wide array of delicious snacks
  • Generous time off policy to balance your work and life, including paid parental leave
  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents
  • Commuter benefits
  • Must be eligible to work in the US.

For New York City roles:

The base salary range for this role is $170,000 - $195,000 per year and is based on experience and qualifications. In addition, we offer a discretionary bonus and a competitive benefits package.
