Job Summary

The qualified candidate is a hands-on, results-oriented person, with an engineering mindset and compassionate perspective that is able to solve complex problems, and design and implement high-quality solutions that meet business and technical requirements and include the appropriate application of testing and automation, and is able to direct a project and team from design to deployment.

Key areas of responsibility

• Design high level architectures for potential projects
• Break projects down into value producing chunks that can be delivered incrementally
• Provide t-shirt size scoping for multiphase projects
• Provide estimates on the number and kind of engineering resources required to implement a project with a given scope
• Coach teams and developers on best practices
• Hands on development where necessary to get things started or move them along
• Conduct load tests and performance tests of new and existing software projects

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
• 10 years of development and/or architectural experience
• Cloud infrastructure experience with a major provider (AWS a plus)
• Hands on development experience with a major programming language. Extensive experience with a variety of languages preferred. Ruby, Rust, and Golang experience a plus
• Experience with event sourced or event driven systems
• Experience in scaling enterprise systems
• Evaluating, identifying and developing software solutions
• Leading software development projects
• Documenting and recording every aspect of an application or software
• Training and overseeing the activities of the members of the development team
• Planning, tracking and scheduling software deliverables
• Locating and directing solutions for critical challenges involving software and hardware interface
• Looking for problems within software systems and resolving the issues

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with video streaming a plus
• Experience in the security industry plus
• Experience with Eventide or EventStore a plus
