We are seeking a Lead Product Designer to own design initiatives for rapidly growing product teams that are building an e-commerce platform and designs for multiple auction marketplaces targeting different regions in the U.S and Europe. Your role will be responsible for elegant, intuitive, user-centric design solutions empowering sellers and bidders. You should enjoy owning projects from beginning to end and be excited to have your designs seen by millions of people.

You will be working as an independent contributor for high priority product and design system initiatives and will manage two to three junior to mid-Level Designers and support their career growth. You will lead design review sessions, refine UX integrated product development processes, lead brainstorming workshops, and generally build a healthy and growth-oriented culture. This role is ideal for candidates who are growing into a leadership or principal designer track.

You will report to the Global Head of Product Design, you will be based out of NYC office with flexibility to work hybrid.

What your contributions will be:

  • Lead high priority product and design system initiatives to improve user experience by simplifying user flows and creating iterative UX, UI/Visual Design solutions that remove friction in web, Android, and iOS experiences.
  • guide designers to create quality work with analytical and measurable approaches that work for meeting user and business needs and goals.
  • partner with the data, SEO and UX research/strategy teams to strategize UX and plan/conduct brainstorming sessions, UX research, and usability testing.
  • partner with Product Managers, Front-End Engineers, and other team/discipline members throughout product conception, design, and implementation in an environment that values a proper MVP approach and iterative processes.
  • consult with the design system leadership committee to make decisions, create/update processes, and align on communications
  • design a flexible, accessible, scalable system with cross-functional peers to elevate the quality of user experience
  • clearly communicate to designers, engineers, and other colleagues about the usage of design systems and collaborative processes and generally serve as an advocate for and promoter of proper design system use.
What you will bring to the team:
  • an ability to move back and forth between being strategic, with a big picture view, to being detail oriented at the pixel level
  • an ability to advocate for UI consistency with designers, engineers, product managers, and executives through writing, visuals, and presentations
  • effective oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • a passion for finding, learning, and sharing new tools and trends in user experience, interactive, and visual design.
What you will need for success:
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in UX/UI/Visual Design practice.
  • demonstrated sophisticated understanding of creating user-centric product design using data, SEO, and research. experience building and maintaining multiple design systems and providing detailed guidelines, specs, logic and rules for a variety of use cases
  • experience owning and designing mid-to large-scale projects from beginning to final execution and testing
  • previously designed complex consumer web or mobile applications (preferably in e-commerce or gaming).
  • experience mentoring/guiding designers and defining work processes, and initiating new projects or initiatives.
  • demonstrated excellent design aesthetic with an understanding of typography, grids, visual, UI, micro-interaction, and systematic design approach
  • expert knowledge of Figma for design and prototyping and understanding of technologies used to create great digital experiences (e.g.: HTML, CSS, React, Javascript).
  • degree in design, human computer interaction, or other related field (preferred).
