Description

Overview: Listerhill Credit Union is a financial cooperative whose primary purpose is to help our members live financially healthy lives. In 1952, seven Reynolds Metals employees deposited $5 each with the idea of starting a credit union that was member-owned and member-focused. Helping co-workers break from predatory lenders to borrow affordably and save for their financial futures, was their motivation. The Role: Your efforts and ultimate successes should be measurable and recognizable as you strive daily within LCU’s vision: “to value people over profit, proactively seek improvement, work passionately, exceed expectations, and make our community a better place”. You will be responsible for the implementation of the People Ops Strategy including employee relations, payroll, compensation, recruitment, turnover/retention, and benefits.

What you will do:

  • Participate in interviews and make job offers to candidates
  • Conduct pre employment screenings including criminal background, credit investigations, drug testing, and pre employment testing
  • Conduct new employee orientation and collect new employee paperwork
  • Effectively communicate with employees, verbally and in writing
  • Accurately update employee files to maintain compliance
  • Maintain accurate data for all employees in the HRIS system
  • Interpret laws and tax codes as they relate to human resources procedures 
  • Provide informed professional assistance to others in the organization as requested
  • Create and maintain reports such as status reports, compensation analysis reports, termination reports, etc.
  • Update and maintain DOL statistics reports, annual OSHA report and year end reports
  • Process monthly HR accounts payable 
  • Handle all disability insurance claims and Worker's Compensation claims and reporting. Act as primary liaison between organization and agencies
  • Develop partnerships with internal staff that enable the People Ops department to provide appropriate services
  • Manage benefits enrollments throughout year for new hires and status changes
  • Coordinate annual benefits enrollment for group health, dental, and all supplemental plans
  • Monitor ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and FMLA compliance issues
  • Work with Retail on branch staffing and coordinate training for managers and supervisors on scheduling platform
  • Ensure that People Ops is following the labor union contract effectively for all areas in the department
  • Maintain the Employee Handbook and keep it up to date
  • Assist with remote workers and maintain contact and engagement with them
  • Coordinate employee service awards quarterly
  • Plan exciting employee engagement events and activities to motivate employees 
  • Plan and coordinate the annual employee event
  • Assist employees in retirement planning and injuries
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years of similar or related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field
  • SHRM-CP or PHR credential preferred
  • Previous experience in payroll, recruiting and/or benefits management preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • An understanding of DOL regulations, EEOC regulations, HIPAA, FMLA, ERISA, COBRA, and other laws 
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature
  • Experience in motivating, influencing, or training others
  • Ability to foster sound relationships with employees and vendors
  • Some traveling will be involved
