What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graduate Assistant Financial Aid - Student Worker position at Lipscomb University?
The Graduate Assistant for Financial Aid candidate will serve as the first point of contact for students and visitors to the Financial Aid office. The GA will provide a high level of customer service to all whether by phone, face to face interactions or by email. They will provide support to the Financial Aid office personnel and report to Janelle White, Assistant Director of Financial Aid.
Duties:
● Answer incoming phone calls, greet walk ins and provide requested assistance immediately or by follow up if more information is needed
● Handle assigned emails, respond to phone calls and other correspondence within department guidelines
● Ensure a professional and welcoming atmosphere in the FA/SA lobby area
● Work with students to locate and complete financial aid information on various websites including: the LU student portal, Lipscomb University, studentaid.gov and fsaid.gov
● Review CNS records to accurately assess student’s awards, status of those awards and ledger balances
● Review and sort emails daily to the FA staff
● Retrieve and review USPS mail daily
● Post outside scholarships received and document in the CNS system
● Assist FA personnel with various projects to apply aid, communicate with groups of students or make aid adjustments
● Make outgoing calls to students regarding outstanding documents or actions needed by the FA office
● Scan and upload documents into the CNS system
● Process V4 Verifications by collecting student ID and signature on the Statement of Identification form
● Process weekly updates to Excel or Google Sheets for ongoing projects
● Create and organize paper files within the FA office
● Perform other related duties as assigned
