  • Summary/Objective:

    The Purchasing Agent/Buyer obtains requirements by verifying, preparing, and forwarding purchase orders; verifies receipt of items; authorizes payment.

    Required Education and Experience

  • Must be a team player and be able to work alone in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze and support inventory, so we can optimize inventory turns and reduce costs.

  • Understanding of ERP systems (D365 preferred).
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills – specifically Word and Excel.
  • Ability to take initiative, set priorities, learn quickly, and take ownership of assigned projects.
  • Essential Functions:

    Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.
  • Forwards available inventory items by verifying stock; scheduling delivery.
  • Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
  • Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders.
  • Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
  • Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
  • Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
  • Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

  • Supervisory Responsibility:

    This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

    Physical Demands:This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool, as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time salary position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and your reporting manager.

    Travel:

    Travel will be minimal and would be primarily local during the business day.

    Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

    Must be able to pass E Verify.
