Job Title: Link 16 Engineer - Command and Control (C2) Integration

Job Description:
The JAAW Group, a leading defense contractor, is seeking a skilled Link 16 Engineer with expertise in Command and Control (C2) systems and integration with other military communications protocols. As a Link 16 Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, integration, testing, and deployment of Link 16 tactical data link systems within complex military environments. This position requires a Secret Security Clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, integrate, and test Link 16 communication systems and applications in accordance with military standards and protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system architects, software engineers, and military personnel, to understand requirements and define system interfaces for Link 16 C2 integration.
- Provide technical expertise in the implementation and integration of Link 16 capabilities, including message formats, data exchanges, and networking protocols.
- Perform system integration, verification, and validation activities, ensuring compliance with military and customer specifications.
- Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting of Link 16 systems, identifying and resolving technical issues to ensure system functionality and reliability.
- Integrate Link 16 systems and applications with other military communication protocols, such as J-Series messages and tactical data links (e.g., Link 11, Link 22).
- Collaborate with external stakeholders and end-users to understand their operational requirements and provide innovative solutions for C2 integration and interoperability.
- Participate in field exercises and demonstrations to validate the performance and interoperability of Link 16 systems, providing on-site support and troubleshooting as needed.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Link 16 technology, standards, and military communications protocols, applying that knowledge to enhance system design and functionality.
- Ensure compliance with security regulations, standards, and procedures, particularly in relation to Secret Security Clearance requirements.
- Document design processes, system configurations, testing procedures, and project progress to ensure effective knowledge transfer and documentation maintenance.
- Collaborate with project managers to estimate project timelines, effort, and resource requirements for successful system development and integration.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers on Link 16 engineering principles, practices, and methodologies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience (4-15 years) working as a Link 16 Engineer or similar role, with a focus on Command and Control (C2) integration.
- Significant experience in the design, deployment, and integration of Link 16 systems within military environments.
- Strong understanding of military communication protocols, including Link 16, Link 11, Link 22, and J-Series messaging.
- Proficiency in Link 16 waveform and message protocols, including Tactical Information Exchange Requirements (TIER) and J-Series messages.
- Experience with software-defined radios, tactical data link processors, and related Link 16 hardware and software components.
- Demonstrated experience in system integration and testing, including the ability to debug and troubleshoot complex systems.
- Active Secret Security Clearance (or higher) is required.
- Familiarity with military C2 systems, such as Air Operations Centers (AOC), Command and Control (C2) centers, and Tactical Operations Centers (TOC).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
