Linda Hall Library, one of the world’s foremost independent research libraries devoted to science, engineering, and technology, is seeking a Director of Individual Giving to join its Development team.

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Engagement the Director of Individual Giving is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual President’s Circle and Science Scholars members and prospects, achieving annual fundraising goals, and providing leadership for the development staff, while adhering to the highest standards and code of ethics.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive and strategic individual fundraising plan to ensure donor acquisition, renewal, and recovery to successfully meet or exceed fundraising goals. 
  • Researches prospective donors and adds to Salesforce as opportunities throughout the year to move them strategically through the identification, cultivation, and solicitation process towards a membership in President’s Circle or Science Scholars. 
  • Ensures the Salesforce individual donor database is accurate for all President’s Circle and Science Scholars members with complete and current mailing addresses, emails, titles, notes, and donor communications.
  • Coordinates and/or develops grant applications and reports; ensures that high quality grant applications and reports are submitted in a timely manner. Conducts research to identify new funding opportunities.
  • Strategically plans annual stewardship events and engagement opportunities for individual donors. Assists with the planning and implementation of donor events, presentations, meetings, and stewardship events as needed
  • Oversees and directly daily workflow of Donor Relations Manager and agencies (when applicable) to ensure departmental efficiency and fundraising accountability.
  • Responsible for departmental reporting and budgeting.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the Library.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Five to ten years of related work experience required.
  • CFRE certification a plus. 
  • A record of successful cultural, or higher education institutional fundraising experience.
  • Ability to manage direct report(s) and work independently as well as with staff members throughout the Library. 
  • Demonstrated Experience with fundraising CRM’s and managing departmental budgets.
  • Must possess high emotional intelligence, ethical practices, and good listening skills.
  • Verbal, mathematical, and reasoning abilities sufficient to analyze data, work with computer databases, communicate effectively orally and in writing, and perform other duties.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Must maintain a valid, current driver’s license.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is not a remote position. The work is primarily performed in an office setting. The position requires occupant to meet prospective and current donors In their homes, offices, elsewhere, as well as In the Library.
