Business Intelligence Analyst

Business Intelligence (BI) specializes in understanding business needs and providing data, metrics, dashboards and visualizations to meet those needs. These roles are often embedded with the business, with analysts translating between business and data needs, and leveraging data to drive business insights. Specifically, BI roles use data, create metrics and design visualizations to help understand and address business problems. They are adept at identifying and interpreting trends and patterns in datasets. They also provide recommendations for strategic/tactical plans based on business data and market knowledge.

Job Description:

  • Exploratory Data Analysis/Insights Time: 30%
    Maximize insight into data, detect and uncover underlying structure in data.
  • Data Visualization Time: 15%
    Create visual representation of data to tell a story (chart, dashboard)
    Abstract and represent in a creative way to convey meaning and provide context
  • Programming Time: 10%
    Knowledge of coding languages (SQL, Python, etc)
  • Business Acumen Time: 30%
    Proactively identify and understand product and business needs
    Translating an ambiguous business problem into a structured set of questions that can be answered analytically
    Function as a trusted thought partner for your stakeholder – translate business needs into an actionable data problem and make a recommendation for business to act on
  • Project Management Time: 30%
    Manage projects from beginning to end, including gathering and articulating requirements and playing an active role throughout the execution of those requirements
    Work with stakeholders to understand key opportunities and translate those into a clear, actionable data strategy
    Delegate and manage tasks and manage scope to ensure the projects deliver on timeline, scope, budget and strategy expectations
    Accountability for administrative tasks to include documentation for time management of each project, delivery of status reports and updates of account summaries

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in related field is preferred
  • 2 years of associated work experience
  • Ability to manage deadlines for multiple projects in a time sensitive environment with short deadlines.
  • Detailed analytical abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in project management is a plus
  • Professional with applicable knowledge and some actionable experience
  • Works effectively on tasks/outputs, and is able to actively contribute
  • Operates defined tasks/outputs and responsibilities
  • Understands technical discussions at the 'task level'
  • Experience in customer facing or consulting roles involving change management, functional business / process requirements gathering, creating process flow charts, and communications preferably in a Healthcare organization
  • Project management experience running small scale projects with responsibilities
    including project planning, mobilizing teams, identifying and tracking success measures
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Outstanding relationship building skills
