The family nurse practitioner (Urgent Care) is a licensed practitioner, who under the general guidance of the delegating physician, is responsible for the provision and plan of care for HHC Med Stop patients. Duties include obtaining the patient history, performing a physical examination, diagnostic testing, ordering medications and treatment interventions to conclude a diagnosis, and treatment plan for the patient illness or injury. The practitioner will provide education regarding the diagnosis, interventions and plan of care given to patient and family members inclusive of applicable medical options, and the care continuum process. The practitioner may prescribe medications and treatment plans. The practitioner assesses patient conditions and must be able to identify a patient presenting or progressing to an unstable status, upon at which time interventions and the plan of care changes to an emergency state in which EMS is activated and lifesaving interventions are initiated utilizing the available resources at the Med Stop. The practitioner is responsible for clear, concise, effective communication with other medical professionals within and outside of Houston Healthcare and must facilitate confidentiality, and privacy. The practitioner will also represent HHC with high degree of visibility within the community and thus must possess positive leadership skills, participate in collaborative efforts, and demonstrate a strong sense of community in alliance with the mission, vision and values of HHC.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Minimum three (3) years RN experience working as a clinical nurse in an Intensive Care Unit or Emergency Department. Current RN licensure by the Georgia State Board of Nursing. Current AHA-BLS certification. Current ACLS and PALS or obtained within 6 months of hire. Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (AANP) Licensure. Current Nurse Practitioner license. High level, clinical decision making, ability to establish and maintain effective, respectful relationships with patients, families, hospital and clinic staff, faculty, and physicians. Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Successful candidates will be subject to criminal background and drug screens.
