Employment Specialist

As an employment specialist, you would assist in providing employment support to adults affected by a disability. Employment specialists serve as a primary contact between community businesses, schedule employment interviews for individuals and provide on-the-job training as required. You will be challenged by the dynamic environment, where you will work as a pivotal member of the staff, to exceed company goals and foster teamwork. Some of the daily job responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in providing education to promote employment opportunities for people supported and increase public awareness
  • Develop and maintain suitable sites for job shadowing, situational assessments and/or employment; and determine job matches
  • Assist and promote relationship/communication between employer and employee
  • Assist/promote employer to integrate employee into their team
  • Participate as a member of each assigned person's interdisciplinary team
  • Ensure financial support is secured for each person served
  • Integrate current events, develop personal goals, build and improve cognitive skills
  • Design, develop and deliver customized learning and development training programs

LifeScape is a qualifying employer under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED equivalency is required. Must be 18 years of age or older. Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required. May require training/testing to drive accessible vehicle. Prior experience working with children or adults with disabilities or challenging behaviors is preferred. Successful completion and certification in training provided by agency within specific time allotment required.
