LH KC Operating Company, LLC is Hiring a Catering Sales Manager Near Kansas City, MO

Loews Hotels & Co has ventured into Kansas City, MO with the new Loews Kansas City Hotel. The 800-room hotel features 60,000 square feet of meeting & function space, with a sky bridge connecting to the 800,000 square foot Kansas City Convention Center. The hotel marks the first hotel catering to groups & meetings to open in more than 20 years in Kansas City. Two signature restaurants, a Grab & Go bakery and a rooftop lounge will round out this all glass, 24 story hotel, which stands out on the city’s skyline. Loews Kansas City is located at the cornerstone of an already vibrant and continuously growing downtown Kansas City. Sells and concentrates on servicing local catering business once it is booked, designing unique menus and themes and providing one-on-one personalized service to guests. Ensures that activities are performed to planned specifications, ensuring total guest satisfaction and repeat business. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Work with the Sales team to develop and implement programs to service and retain group business Work with the Director of Conference Management and Catering to cultivate and implement local social and corporate business Research the competitive catering environment to define potential sources of Catering business and to determine strengths and weaknesses of competitors Work with the Director of Conference Management and Catering to develop annual Catering sales plans to attract local market segment Work with solicitation tools such as the “Wedding Pages” to effectively publicize the hotel’s wedding services and catering capabilities Effectively establish the local market to include, but not limited to: local client contacts, businesses, social events, fund-raisers, weddings, and bar/bat mitzvahs Successful implementation of booked catering business and servicing of client events Block space effectively in Delphi to maximize potential revenues, utilizing space release request forms Provide personal attention to clients from the time a group is classified as definite until the bill is paid to ensure total satisfaction of group needs Distribute Banquet Event Orders to all appropriate hotel departments to facilitate efficient purchasing, planning, and employee scheduling Inform operating departments of any changes, additions, or deletions to assigned groups’ function plans Check functions daily, meeting with client contacts Be available to clients for last minute changes Ensure times and locations of specific events are posted properly and in the appropriate locations Discuss group’s plans for future events, encouraging rebooking Attend all meetings as appropriate: staff, department, and Banquet Event Order Works on special projects as assigned by Dir of Catering Conference Management Assists in building strong relationships with other hotel departments, employees, and outside vendors Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned Reports to work as scheduled, in accordance with the hotel’s personal appearance standards Follows OSHA regulations and all policies and procedures as set forth by the Catering & Conference Management department Performs all duties in a timely and professional manner Is polite, friendly, and helpful to guests, management and fellow employees Maintains a positive attitude that ensures the best guest experience Encourages a positive attitude among employees and treats guests and fellow employees with courtesy and respect Greets guests in a friendly and courteous manner Applies excellent guest relations skills when interacting with guests Satisfies guest requests for information and service Communicates guest complaints to appropriate manager Is familiar with the hotel and is able to explain the locations and operating hours of hotel facilities Remains current with hotel information and changes Promotes and applies teamwork skills at all times Notifies appropriate individual promptly and fully of problems and/or unusual matters of significance Executes emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standards Complies with required safety regulations and procedures Attends appropriate hotel meetings and training sessions Complies with hotel standards, policies and rules Complies with hotel uniform and grooming standards Maintains cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment and work area Recycles whenever possible General Promotes applies teamwork skill at all times Notifies appropriate individual promptly and fully of problems and/or unusual matters of significance Is polite, friendly, and helpful to guests, management and fellow employees Attends appropriate hotel meetings and training sessions Complies with required safety regulations and procedures Complies with hotel and department standards, policies and rules Recycles whenever possible Remains current with hotel information and changes Complies with hotel uniform and grooming standards Maintains cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment and work area Executes emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standards Qualifications Must have high school diploma or equivalent, at a minimum; accounting diploma or courses taken in accounting preferred. Minimum three years’ catering management experience with proven success Knowledge of all hotel support departments Must be able to interact effectively with all levels of hotel staff and management Must have excellent communication skills – oral and written Must have outstanding organizational skills Must have outstanding sales capabilities Must be able to meet the demands of clients’ events to include presence at numerous food and beverage functions throughout the day Excels in a fast-paced work environment Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays Up to date computer knowledge of sales and catering and general business softwareble to interact effectively with all levels of hotel staff and management Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, when needed Must be adaptable to change Must be able to work in fast-paced environment Must be able to push, stand, stoop, bend and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds
