We are seeking a full-time Engineer for our Albuquerque, NM operations.

Response, assessment and evaluation services (RAES) are parts of a larger program associated with abandoned mines. You will support the program in the following areas;

  • Complete engineering evaluations and cost analysis for removal actions at abandoned mines. 
  • Complete engineering evaluations/cost analyses and comparative evaluations of technical alternatives for remedy selection.
  • Conduct process reviews to include equipment sizing, processing schemes, and cost estimates of selected options.
  • Perform engineering design.
  • Recommend adaptations and modifications engineering methods using independent judgment. 
  • Oversee field construction activities and be familiar with heavy equipment, construction means and methods, and management activities. 
  • Learn and implement radiological monitoring techniques and site characterization studies.
  • Execute assignments that have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables.

Job Requirements:

A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will also have / be:

  • Familiarity with engineering design and construction oversight is desired. 
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to lead small sampling teams without direct supervision.
  • Familiarity with naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM) or technologically enhanced natural occurring radioactive materials (TENORM) in uranium mining, oil and gas, or other industries.

Degree / Certifications

  • BS in engineering (civil, environmental, or other relevant discipline) or radiation health physics from an accredited college or university. 
  • MS in engineering, physical science, or health physics (or similar discipline) is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training is a plus. 

Work Environment

This position requires roughly 20 -35% travel. Field work anticipated to be in remote areas of Arizona and New Mexico. You must be able to:

  • Carry field equipment (35 to 40 pounds) and don personal protective gear as needed.
  • Work outdoors during all seasons, both hot and cold, and walk on various terrain.
  • Drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver’s license is required.
