JOB SUMMARY:

The GL Accountant will assist the Controller and other Accounting personnel in preparing monthly financial statements, accurately reporting revenue and expenses, maintaining balance sheets, general ledger accounts, and other financial reports as assigned for a fast-paced, local, multi-unit Restaurant group. Additionally, the GL Accountant will be responsible to assist with other reporting and control functions within the Accounting Department under the direction of the Controller. These areas may include: preparation or compiling financial records to track the organizations assets, liabilities, equity, and profit; accounts payable, revenue audit, rents, tax (sales and other), and/or any other financial-related activities that may be required to contribute to the success of our team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: include but not limited to:

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly accounting processes to accurately classify and record Accounting transactions.
• Prepare journal entries, income statements, balance sheets, and cash reports as assigned.
• Participate and assist in general ledger reconciliation and analysis of trial balances encompassing all entities to support month-end processes and accurate financial reporting.
• Analyze financial results and provide variance explanations versus budgets, forecasts, or prior year.
• Assist Controller to ensure internal controls are maintained over all entries, entities, and assets.
• Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify debits and credits, and address inquiries.
• Provide outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to ensure audit compliance.
• File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with high degree of accuracy.
• General knowledge of hospitality accounting and financial principles; basic understanding of GAAP practices and procedures.
• Ability to understand and calculate relevant industry metrics.
• Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-company environment.
• Strong desire to be part of a high-performing team achieving personal and company goals
• Able to solve problems by thinking analytically and creatively.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, Restaurant 365 experience a plus.

EDUCATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: (Preferred):

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, or related field
• Three years of Accounting experience. Restaurant or Hospitality knowledge is optimal.
• Experience in working with multiple legal entities preferred
• Documented experience and knowledge of financial reporting or similar

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at computer.
• Prolonged periods of typing

• Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e. working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
