Description:

We are looking for a Human Resources Director to oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes. What is HR Director? To us, an HR Director is the go-to person for all employee-related issues. This means that your HR Director duties will involve managing activities such as job design, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training & development, and talent management. The job of HR Director is important to business success. Promoting corporate values and shaping a positive culture is a vital aspect of a complete HR Director job description and specification. Our search is for a Director/VP of Human Resources to lead the combined Leonard/Cook enterprise Human Resources department. With over 900 Team Members, this role is critical to the cultural, operational, and financial success of the organization. This role is designed to maximize the value of our most important asset…our people…and the selected leader will report directly to the CEO and will be an integral part of organizational strategic decisions and direction.

  • Payroll Manager 

What The Role Will be Responsible For:

  • Functional leadership of Human Resources, Compensation, Benefits, and Payroll
  • Creation and management of the complete employee life cycle (see page 3) 
  • Legal compliance related to HR, Benefits, and Payroll
  • Creation and management of compensation and benefits plans
  • Enterprise cultural management, including Team Member experience
  • Organizational design to ensure structure proceeds growth

Other Key Information:

  • Leonard is based in Mount Airy NC, and the ideal candidate will live in, or be able to commute to Mount Airy. We can be flexible with some work from home accommodations for the right candidate. Cook is currently located in Cobden Il, and the position will spend some in the Cook HQ. 
  • The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of performance in a Human Resources, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, and Employee Life Cycle Management.
  • The role is a Director, or VP Level and the candidate will be part of the Leonard Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities

  • This role is a Director or VP Level and the candidate will be apart of the Leonard Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO. 
  • Leading the HR team
  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
  • Oversee and maintain DOT driver records for federal compliance
  • Maintain all social media channels for recruiting
  • HR representative for all acquisitions and greenfield projects including onboarding
  • Monitor and maintain all Covid protocols and tracking
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues
  • Take ownership of candidate experience by designing and managing Paylocity/Indeed job postings, job descriptions, and position requirements
  • Ensure all screening, hiring, and selection is done in accordance with employment laws and regulations
  • Deep understanding of employment laws and regulations
  • Manage onboarding and new hire process
  • Audit all HR processes for compliance including I9 and e-verify
  • Stay abreast of recruiting trends and best practices
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation, and preservation of human capital
  • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization
  • Nurture a positive working environment
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
  • Maintain pay plan and benefits program
  • Compensation analysis monitored on a regular basis
  • Working knowledge of interview techniques and applicant screening methods
  • Oversee all background checks including adverse actions with new hires
  • Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs
  • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management
  • Report to senior management by analyzing data and using HR metrics

Skills

  • Proven working experience as HR Director or another HR professional
  • People oriented and results driven
  • Demonstrable experience with human resources metrics
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems and databases
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
  • Degree in Human Resources or related field

Requirements:

  • Experience as an HR Director
  • BSc/BA in human resources, business administration or relevant field; MSc/MA in human resources will be a plus
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Detail-Oriented with strong People Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of labor laws and regulations
  • Thorough knowledge of human resource management principles and best practices
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
